Now we realize that EV's "it is what it is" is the best what any coach could have achieved under dictator Messi and spoiled amigos.

Lord Valverde.

:lol: That dictator Messi from 2017-2019 was still Ballon D'Or level Messi (even though he wasn't in his absolute prime) who scored 100 goals in 100 games over 2 seasons...He still had the same flaws as now but his production was still amazing. "Lord" Valverde benefited from that, unless you want to make an argument that it was Valverde who managed to make Messi score 100 in 100. In which case, it's a lost conversation.

All the past few months do is create some sympathy for Valverde, showing us that he had a difficult task at hand managing the amigos. But that's different from his attributes. He's still an ultra conservative, try to defend the lead and fail miserably type of small time manager. It's why he doesn't have another big job. Because other top clubs see right through him.

True to some extent. But that's not a compliment for either Valverde, Amigos, and especially Barcelona going forward.

Submissive conservative manager + dictatorial veteran legends + weak board is a trio that makes sense short term but is catastrophic in the medium and long term. It can make sense short term if the legends perform, which they did, domestically at least. But once they stop performing, shit hits the fan. And it did.

That's exactly what EV era was. Milking some good results short term, while in the medium-long term we got knee-deep in more shit. If it takes us more time to rebuild a new team it's also because of EV era.

It's quite incredible that out of all managers since Pep, Lucho is the one that benched the most veterans and had the guts to sub key players during games, even though in his time the team was far better.

Didn't he lose both supercopa ties at the start of the 2017-18 season?

Better get your facts correct.

tbf he did say league clasico.

But that doesn't mean EV was the clasico master. His management style heavily depended on individuals instead of a team and RM sucked in the league for those 2 seasons.

Lord Valverde.

I don't really agree. The xg expected goal stats for each team was equal.

We got unlucky to concede 4 and not score a single goal. And Dembele's miss of an open goal haunts us.

I think what he meant by it is what it is. That he did all he could to win us the treble but end of the day players weren't good enough.

He was the clasico master.

If you checked Madrid's forums they were terrified of going against Valverde's Barca in the UCL final which was what it seemed the matchup would be.

He just had better tactics than Zidane. Like the famous 5-2 without Messi

Zidane wasn't even the manager for that 5-1 win lol

I doubt Pep wants him anymore. He wouldnt cut it in England anymore. PSG would be best. Neymar-Messi-Di Maria with Mbappe as a 9.
