I would say if there is any player in the world who would have desverved this money it would be Lionel Messi as this man was excellent in almost every fucking year ( maybe not 2013 and 2020) and was literally an one-man-army between 2016-2019.

I think there's a line between footballers trying to earn as much as possible as any person would and what Messi's contract looks like. I have no problem with Messi being the best paid player in the world each year since he started playing, he deserves that. If the current Messi was still the best paid player in the world, say a few million over Ronaldo, Lewa, etc. it wouldn't be a problem in my book. But the obscene numbers we're talking about here, I mean of course it's the boards fault for giving him that, no question about it. But on the other side, obviously his father was negotiating hard, I mean look at the 100m loyalty bonus and renewal fee for gods sake. I mean yeah sure be well paid, but this kind of looks like you're okay with squeezing every last cent out of the club if you can successfully negotiate. It just leaves a bit of a sour taste IMO.

We haven't gotten a leak of his contract but from pretty much every source that we've ever seen in the last 5-10 years since he came to Madrid, he's never been on anywhere near the kind of numbers we're talking about here. I mean it's possible that he is, but we haven't heard of it from any source afaik.
