He is not a leader, he never was. And since Puyol, we dont realy have that kind of a player that lifts up whole team, that fights and scream! What we do have is a lot of them that dive and roll. And... Barca doesn't have Iniesta, Xavi, Puyol and Dani Alves... No one did something for the future and now Messi is almost 34 and plays with averge players. He cant do all by himself and he isn't someone who lift the whole team... I'm glad that we can fight for first 3 places and not for like Europa League. Changes are very needed, but i cant see some big changes, at least not in next 5 years or so. Only if Laporta "pulles a rabbit out of the hat" but that is almost imposible.

Imo both are still one of the best players but they need the ball in the right places and not 10 metres before the oppenent's box. Where is the sense of buying haaland if we cant create him chances? First of all we need one, better two creative midfield players.

That's the thing. We don't have a good striker and he also doesn't have good players around him in attack. He declined and that is natural,he is almost 34. But the qulity of his team mates has nosedived in the last 3-4 years.He Had Ronaldinho and Eto'o,than it was Eto'o Henry, after that it was Villa and Pedro, and MSN from 2014. Now he has Dembouz and Cariomann,i mean...really.

If Ronaldo did what Messi did yesterday it would have been considered a decent game by his standards, you guys really need to see how bad a Ronaldo "disasterclass" performance really is.
For me Messi now only performs as good as the team is performing. Every game we've said; "wow that was a brilliant Messi performance", it was also a very good team performance. He still has the ability to go above the average level of the team but only if that average level is a 7/10. This isn't an insult to him, this is just most footballers who ever played the game, the greats included, especially at 34.
The trope of he's the only reason we're in the title race is over the top. He's certainly the most important reason, but not the only reason. If we had the money to make some transfers then I think even at his age we'd see an excellent version of Messi next season. That requires signing a Haaland or Kane. We also need Fati back to offer another goals source as Dembele's 5 goals in la liga is embarassing for a barca forward. If that happens we'll see some good times next year if not then Messi and Barca should part ways.

He was close in 2018, but ultimately he failed. Other than that, if you look at the CL, we only made the finals and subsequently won the title, in the Messi era, when we had absolutely stacked dream teams, with nearly every position filled with insane players.
It's the same case for Ronaldo as well, it's not like Ronaldo actually did anything unseen in CL playing for crap teams. Both Messi and Ronaldo fall flat on their ass and disappoint whenever they are surrounded by anything less than stellar teammates left and right. since 2015 messi has been completely unable to win an important match/tie for barcelona. he cant do it to save his own life. the two goals against liverpool in the campnou is the only exception and that didnt matter anyway because they stomped us the next game with Messi on the pitch for 90 minutes.
nothing sums up messi's PATHETIC mid and late career up more than the fact that he has been an active barcelona player while Real Madrid has gone on its best CL-winning streak since alfredo di stefano. imagine the bulls with jordan in his prime in the 90s watching their biggest rivals take the championship 4 years of that decade. unthinkable.
