Lionel Messi - v7

he's a B2B midfielder, not a CDM. contributes to the attacking phase whenever possible. if anything, jorginho is the "CDM" of that chelsea team, but even then, he's more of a regista.

won't blame you for not understanding simple concepts though, must be hard for amoebas

Funny thing is if France gets to the finals in Euros with Kante playing a major role, then he has a shot at top 3 in Ballon D'Or

A huge factor is media buzz. Kante is generating that at the moment, as most people in football world are agreeing it is time for him to win one at least. A solid WC performance could seal the deal with the momentum that is being built. Also, not many other contenders this year.

Alciato very reliable from Sky Italy said yesterday there is pretty much no doubt Barca, Juve and Real will be disqualified from CL by 22 June. wonder if this will have any impact on his decision.

I'd like to see a better quality than that in the position of Defensive Midfielders + Central Defenders (it's an average level).
But this team still can win the Copa. They should believe in it, in themselves and fight for it. I think that's what will happen. This can be their year.

Paredes is a bit of a stud to be fair. He did quite well in the CL knockouts this year in that position

Really? I think the squad is very mediocre.

Since Copa 2015, definitely. The current squad is not world class, but it is solid with room for improvement.

My worry is that Scaloni will pick the wrong players for defense and GK.

Paredes is no prime Mascherano, but he is still solid.

He can be a decent player, but no more.
Argentina needs a worldclass defensive midfielder, as since the retirement of Mascherano they didn't find someone in his quality (at least in defensive skills and physicality, like in 2014).
Brazil has Casemiro and Fabinho, two world-class players (options) for the same position. Argentina doesn't have anyone to play this role.
Paredes and LoCelso have some technique, but their physicality is very average (ball recovery, stamina, speed..). Imagine if they had someone like Kante there; he would have totally boosted the midfield.

In PSG, ball recovery is the speciality of Idrissa Gueye, while creating from deep is the speciality of Verratti (+Neymar when available).
Paredes doesn't have a clear speciality there.

I need to know at once if Messi leaves to City so that the journey for Nr. 7 starts next season or not.
