It is not easy story. It will be easy if Messi contract has not yet run out.
Messi has already taken a pay cut yet not enough for FFP.
Now, the narrative has changed, the pay cut players might have to take may be because of a free agent Messi? Maybe the pay cut won't be this much if it is not because of Messi?
And people seem to have misconception about contract termination. We cannot just terminate contract without paying the players some penalty. Let say they still have 3 years left of their contract, termination today may require us to pay them 1 or 2 year worth of salary depends on negotiation.
Yes, we have taken out a loan for that but still it will be viewed as money spent taken into account of FFP.
Few Things:
It isn't just free agent Messi, that isn't correct. We can't register free agent Depay, free agent Eric, back from loan Emerson unless massive wage reduction happens.
Club can't be hold hostage by their own players.
-Our problem isn't UEFA ffp, but with Liga ffp.
With the later, the problem with it is wage. That is why we accept direct losses over paying wages.
-Terminating contract means player will have to go to court, payment will be delayed, and whatever new contract they sign with any other team it will be deducted from current contract payment.
-They can't just enjoy happy salary and go for vacation, or sign for free, otherwise we will sue them for intentionally harming the club. So they need to seriously look for offers and get their market value, and then we will pay the difference.
So, all in all, this will save us money for sure, and save us trouble with Liga ffp
