Lionel Messi - v7

from what laporta said today i think this was his plan all along. he wants to start a new era and stamp his legacy as president. messi was getting in the way with his huge contract.

that way laporta can blame it on barto/tebas and rebuild the squad as he likes. he'll surely go for a superstar next season.

He looks genuinely disappointed. We just can't offer Messi competitive wages in regards to fair play, and neither does the League show leniency. Shit happens.

Covid full year. At least the stadium was full until February last year.

The situation is even more dire than I thought before.
So we are still fucked regardless and wont even have any Messi income.
Even if full stadiond would be allowed I doubt we get out?

it's bullshit. do you think he was that big of an idiot to just believe he could sign messi and find out 48h before that they couldn't?! this has been discussed for months now.

Well, he was clearly hoping for opportunities to present themselves, but nothing happened apart from the shabby CVC deal. I am not sure he could have thrown in the towel a month ago (in retrospect he should have).

I'd say with full stadiums (or at least 2/3 full) the situation would be fixable... Now it seems that we are doomed financially.

this kind of bullshit will definitely burn any bridges left with messi coming back or to be affiliated with the club in one way or another, truly sickening handling of situation

Cant blame laporta for making the harder decisions. The club comes first. If its impossible to get rid of other clowns like griezman, umtiti, countinho then messi had to go, unfortunately.

LaLiga will enforce the CVC deal with some adjustments and Messi will stay.

That's what the optimist in me thinks anyway

it's done, dawg. laporta wants to do it his way. he never wanted to renew messi.

hasn't sold a single high earner and added new salaries. does that look to you like a guy who wants to make everything in his power to keep messi?
