The reports state that the agreement to terminate his contract is at the end of each season not specifically a month i.e May or June.

If he leaves, what'll be the likely cause? If it's really the amigos being booted up, then all those rumors are true and Barto looks very innocent...

can be the case he was made a scapegoat for the amigo farce even though the board enabled it and he's fed up with them deflecting the blame on him. Doesn't change much though.

People will find a way to blame Bartomeu no matter what.

He's done a lot of bad but what he's doing now is the right thing for a future of the club (as long as we won't buy Lautaro).

Good decision by him if true. The club is going nowhere with a midtable manager like Koeman while declaring clear misfits like Griezmann, Coutinho and Semedo "indispensible" and ousting the club's top 2 performer of the past 3 years.

All the BF wishes will come true once again. No more Valverde, no more Suarez, no more sulking and walking Messi, no more Rakitic. Here comes the total domination, led by Dembele, Fati and Griezmann. Maybe Lautaro.

This is coming out one day after Suarez was told to leave. Doesn't take a genius to put two and two together. Don't like Barto, but he should call his bluff here.

Yeah, don't be delusional. No one is expecting even a title with those players next season. This team needs a rebuild and most are content with no titles for 2 years while the restructuring is happening.

To think that this has come out after a) Suarez is told to leave and b) Koeman asked Messi to run. Amazing.

What would you consider good money for him? 100m we'll spent on Lautaro?

I'm not so sure Lautaro will come if Messi leaves. Surely Lautaro was a recommendation from Messi entourage. Funny thing is it now seems that they wanted Suarez and Lautaro.

Barto has nothing to lose. He is leaving regardless so he has no reason to follow the bluff. A new board will be harder pushed to appease Messi. Like I said before, hard to win elections if one of your mandate is to not renew Messi.

Suarez saga was known for days.
Messi is vulnerable to this decisions, remembering when he retired from international football?

To be honest, from reading, it looks like if he doesn't leave, it's a problem and if he leaves then it's also a problem with some fans.

The only part I don't like is him leaving on a free but other than that, if he wants to explore other pastures at 33, I don't see a problem. I think we can expedite the restructuring process without him.

Did not even bother to do it personally. What a way to end your career at the club who believed in you. Ew

I've enjoyed following Messi over the years and I thank him for doing things in his prime and when he was young that the world just had never seen before (a little with Ronaldo in the 90s and Dinho).

However, watching him walk and stand around almost every game for the past 4-5 seasons has gotten old, and only worse over time. If they had replaced Suarez properly a few years ago when he first started being shit, things may have gone differently. I don't think anyone would of anticipated Suarez being this terrible for years now, but it's clear he was kept because Messi wanted him here despite it being detrimental to the sporting project. Messi's laziness and influence on who stays or plays is something I wouldn't miss. We will never have success with this kind of attitude and influence in the locker room, as clearly displayed in four, yes FOUR back to back straight up embarrassments in the CL knockout stages.
