Why would he do a press conference now if in the end he wouldn't be able to move to City anyways ?
Imagine him doing a press conference now and Barto and Tebas doing all they can legally for him to not be allowed to move and he ends up staying. How would that look in the end ?
He'll do his press conference for his fans after he leaves.

It's about who can prove who is right about the exit clause. Barcelona claims he didn't state he wanted to leave on June 10th.... but there are reports going around that Messi told them multiple times that he wanted to leave before June 10th but Bartomeu wasn't having any of it. Messi states because of COVID that the season ends at the August. He also states he couldn't leave or exercise his exit clause because we were basically in the middle of the season... which is what Messi is right about. Besides, Bartomeu clearly stated last year Messi had the right to leave before the start of the 20/21 season if he chose to. He gave Messi that promise. He's just mad that Messi is actually going through with it.
This is going to court where a negotiation process will take place, because technically both are right.... but COVID basically made the contract null and void.
