I read somewhere that Balon d'Or was voted on in early November, which means before Messi broke Muller's record and before Real Madrid fell off the cliff.

That was also when many people came out in the press and sided with Ronaldo, or Ronaldo had generally more buzz. Wonder how close it will be.
