Btw Wenger claimed that Leo is the GOAT back in 2010 (not in 2011) iirc.

Watching some highlights between 2009/10 and 2011/12, you can understand why. Although he was a more complete (2014/15) or more influential (2018/19) player in other seasons, the raw ability in early 2010s is simply unmatched.

That's probably why he is dying to play for Barca as well. The pull of the club is super strong but when you add that to the aura and history Messi brang you have crazy shit like players literally offering themselves to Barca whilst actively playing for other clubs.

The club needs to do everything it can to keep close ties with him when he retires. He can still help us immeasurably, without having to do much at all.

Do hope he comes back as a club ambassador or some sorts.

One meeting from Messi with a potential young talent could help sway their minds to joining Barca.
