Mbappe is kind of trash at most elements of forward play except for counter attacks.

Being able to run fast with the ball and have a decent goal scoring touch is invaluable in modern football. There is a reason why Inaki Williams terrorized us the other day, Mbappe destroyed Argentina, etc. Quick players with good quality are much more dangerous than slow players with a bit more quality. Just because Mbappe may not have Di Maria's skills in certain situations doesn't make him 'overrated', it just makes him a 'tremendous' threat instead of a 'generational' one.

It's very early. I think having Messi as the focal point will actually help them tremendously, because unlike us, they have insane speed and threat up front and good wing backs, so it's not like it will stifle them like it did us.

I'd wait for a few months before making a judgement like that. I hope they remain disjointed, but I'm quite worried that Messi will just unlock something unstoppable in this team.

La Liga is great, some of you guys talk like all leagues other than the Premier League are trash. Bundesliga, Serie A, EPL & La Liga are the big 4 historical European Leagues that have all been the best in Europe at one time or another, right now it is the EPL but not by much and it has only been the best for a couple of years. If you leave La Liga then Bundesliga & Serie A are great destinations as well as the EPL.

first game, and it's awkward seeing Messi play in a team where he isn't the main person (the French also fouls a lot). I don't think Messi would hit those high scoring figures in this league (too early to tell though)
