Poche didnt find a system to integrate Messi and now PSG is weaker with him even though he has great performances like yesterday.

Finding the right system to integrate Messi isn’t for everyone :valverde2:

 its true, Valverde did get the best out of him. The off-ball movement is the problem, same you could see with Ronaldo at Manu. The best matches of Manu with CR was when he ran a lot. If you have a very strong midfield like in pep era or Real 16-18 then Ron/Messi can walk and concentrate only on the actions which they have with the ball. But as we see PSG/Manu isnt on that level and the walking hurt them too much.

current messi would enjoy the bench at City

Maybe, or maybe not.

I don't think Pep wants him anywhere near midfield, a role which requires actual work rate, he could try to simply play him as some sort of striker instead.
Probably wouldn't work with this version of Messi, but if anybody could do it, it would be Pep.

That said, there is a reason Man City went after Ronaldo and Messi in a half-assed way, they don't really need these types of players anymore.

Messi himself choose to be more of a playmaker, which is a huge problem.
One of the main reasons I appreciated the 442 EV tried in his 1st year, was perfect for him.

anyway..

PSG in Ligue 1 this season

Without Messi on the pitch

Troyes 2-1 W
Strasbourg 4-2 W
Brest 4-2 W
Reims 2-0 W
Clermont Foot 4-0 W
Lyon 1-0 W
Metz 2-1 W
Montpellier 2-0 W
Angers 2-1 W
Lille 2-0 W
Bordeaux 3-2 W

With Messi on the pitch

Lyon 1-1 D
Rennes 2-0 L
Marseille 0-0 D
Lille 1-0 L
Nantes 3-1 W
St. Etienne 3-1 W
Nice 0-0 D
Lens 1-1 D
Monaco 2-0 W
Lorient 1-1 D

Stunning

Ps: can't find the original comment.

Lyon: 13th position
Rennes: 4th
Marseille: 3rd
Lille: 8th, and correction it's 2-1 W not 0-1 L
Nice: 2nd
Lens: 9th
Lorient: 19th

So the only defeat is against a 4th place that at that time was on a going 13 consecutive unbeaten strike (they're unbeaten in 2.5 month). And let's just be honest and watch again, messi played brilliant there with both Mbappe and Ney wasted chances he created in that match. I know Mbappe is the best performer this season so far for PSG but not that match. Messi was.

Other 4 draw. 2 draw against 2nd and 3rd position. Fair enough.
Now, lens at 9th now. They're on a better position when facing psg , as far as i remembered. Now when i look again, they're on 2nd defeat in a row. Gotta see that match again, but when i don't remember it could mean messi unimpressive in that match (or i didn't watch it). But it doesn't mean the others were.
Last lorient, they're bottom dwellers, but i didn't see something wrong last night with him, just massively unlucky, a brilliant save and unconnected forwards with ney and mbappe not around and di maria having his bad day.
