All those players you mentioned have been criticized for getting paid too much as well. Do not see the point of having to bring them up.
Yes, Messi has done a lot for the club but never lose sight on the fact it has been a two-way street. Barca took care of him ever since being a kid. Club does not owe him anything except for a proper goodbye maybe.

Who says otherwise? He was handsomely paid and was best player ever. I would say everyone got what they wanted.
My issue is with shite talkers that point only to the money as if Messi didn't deliver. This in a sport where every half decent bum is a multi millionaire and clubs pay millions in transfer fees for all kind of dross.
We got the best ever and paid best ever money. Nobody got robbed or was cleaned out, as you wanted to make out.

But you basically already admitted we overpaid him by saying "things even out" lol. That's bad business conduct. Just because you got a good price for something at one point does not mean you have to compensate for that later down the road.

He was underpaid(as in not the biggest earner) when he was younger. For many years CR or others had a bigger salary.
When he signed his last extension he was basically in his prime as far as image goes and was bringing big money into the club.
Taking into account that we didn't pay transfer fees for him, you could say things even out. That was my reasoning behind it.

Overall club is probably on a profit over 20 years of Messi's stay, considering the sporting and financial success.

As popular as Messi was, I think casual football fans are easily swayed. Camp Nou is close to packed even against your Elche's, shirts are selling like hotcakes and sponsors still want to sign with us.

Nah, it is not Pique, as it seems El Mundo plans to reveal some contractual numbers and documents on Pique and Neymar too.
10m might not be much in the eyes of some, but given how fucked up our financial situation was (and still is), when everybody else was taking a paycut or deferral (Messi did too, sure), asking for 10m bonus was a bad taste, to say the least.
Also I didn't like how he allegedly wanted the club to pay him 3% interest rate on wages cut/deferred and how he wanted the club to cover extra taxes.

He might not be a financial wizard but he is not stupid, I bet he know what interest rate is. People think he is like a newbie on everything outside of football, I don't believe that narrative.
When he was caught evading taxes, I am not sure if he knew every bit of the schemes and details but if he didn't give tacit approval at the very least, his accountants etc. would not have been able to do it, I think.
To be honest, if I was him I would have absolutely no interest in negotations. Appoint reliable personnel who are responsible of getting the absolute best deal possible, in this case even his father is involved. They believed they could get 10m, they asked for it. I can't see Leo asking "papa, please I need 10m".
It's not too uncommon that players who quit lose out on much of their fortune because they don't know how to take care of it.
