It looked a pen on the replay.

Messi clipped him and never got near ball.

It also looked a pen to Rakitic on the replay because the croatian was first hit pretty hard and then his opponent struck the ball. But they don't call penalties out of that kind of situations usually. It was pretty easy given PK to Atletico imo.

Taking the season into account as a whole, Messi has been brilliant this year (best player in the world form). He's been an absolute beast at Camp Nou. He has struggled in some away games, and hasn't scored for a while. Hopefully he regains his goal scoring form on the road.

When Messi isn't on, the team still struggles. The first 2 goals tonight was purely off of Messi's brilliance.

But the team as a whole played superb tonight. the score doesn't reflect the dominance over Athletico.

He can't have such intensity in all matches and he even can't have it in all big ones. It seems a pretty hard job to do even for Messi. I guess that is why he was much better in his prime years, he could play much more like this than now.

That Real loss still hurts. After this game, Barca would have a string of games where they would be heavy favorites. Really could have allowed us some breathing room in the league as Madrid is losing form. Ugh.
