I think it is definitely 4-3-3 otherwise we would not have seen alb in the formation. Vermaelen or Lenglet will play in Semedo's role and Alba will be the LB. if Valverdi wanted 3-4-3 then Arthur will play instead of Alba.

Neymar was not defensive enough too, but Enrique was using him in that setup during half of his last season. Having just one winger with defensive capabilities is enough for this setup (Chelsea was using Moses with Alonso for 2 seasons).

While this is just one game and far from a definite conclusion Im afraid Arthur is second choice behind Vidal aswell.

The sad part is that in Arthur's case it doesn't have to be either. Vidal deserves a start yet Valverde refuses the idea of benching Rakitic and Busi.
