Masche is fit to play. Hasn't been out for too long either. We probably didn't want Aduriz to own him in the air again.

Mascherano is available, but on the bench.

This is probably because of Athletic's aerial ability and Umtiti being better at that aspect than Masche.

I'm a bit anxious in regards to Denis and his ability to shield the ball and play it calm under heavy (and presumably rough) pressure from Bilbao. No doubt he deserves to start because of his bright start this season, but I had half hoped to see Gomes in his place.
Hopefully he makes the grade.

There's no way Lucho and the medical team are risking having Masche even on the bench just for the 2nd game of the season if he isn't fit.
