im not exegerating if i say this is the best i ve ever seen from our defenders.. they defended our goql like if their life depended on it.. our front three were camping in the opponents' half.. no defense in the world get to experience what our defenders have to endure with basically no help from 3 entire players (third of a team ).. not only but they also contributed a lot in the offense (pique as a false 9) and maschdrano with his excellent compusore on the ball.. i m not overstating if i say our defense is the best compartiment of the team
Somehow despite this slump....i haven't lost hope.... fortunately we had points to play with...the team just needs to be motivated and get the tika-taka machine oiled and working again....something like this happen at the start of the season..and i didnt lose hope....it is times like these that test the intestinal fortitude of teams....If anything just win the league..that is the only competition left that Barca can stop Fake Madrid from wining...lol.....
The team needs depth on the bench and a Plan B and they can work on that at the end of the season.....another striker to rotate with MSN.....a midfielder that has a power game and is more direct...and a CB....They can also work on La Masia because it seems that the quality from there has dried up

We have been horrid these past few months, and today we actually looked solid in comparison. Obviously, bad, but still...much better. Probably because we played at home and we had to do something its just that ball didn't want to go in the net.
On the other hand, had we played like 2 months ago we would have destroyed them. We have completely fell apart. Our transition is absolutely nonexistent and the entire team looks clueless and disjointed. We truly looked like a beaten army. Cannot defend for shit (except Masch) when their counters start, players lacking energy and drive to get that goal, everything seems so slow and helpess with them lately. I don't think there is coming back from this, no way tbh, they look exhausted.

i still do not understand how people perceive defense as a 4 men job.. we are not in the seventies anymore.. if our back 4 are under assaults it means something is seriously wrong with our midfield and attack.. our front three do not track back at all..
Are you both saying our offense has room to play? I can't tell. To me it seems like it's suffocating most of the time in this recent slump.
I'm not saying park the bus all game, but try it for short periods to create space.
Nothing worse than seeing our attacking players passing the ball around the 18 over and over again.
Agreed, we have no change in tactics. It's just possession for 90 minutes with no room to score and then getting killed by 1 or 2 counter attacks because we don't have enough defenders back.

you're right, we're not in the 70's, but that's about it. Our defense isn't some archetypal 2-banks-of-four defend deep. We push up the pitch as high as possible to get the ball back, therefore we'll always be susceptible to counters. This is why we play a sweeper keeper and why Busquets' positioning is crucial. Defending for Barca is more of a 3 man job a lot of the time than a 4.

i see what u are saying and i understand.. but i slighly disagree.. the counters against us in pep'sfirst three years occured far less frequently.. eto prime messi and henry pressed immediately and aggressively so the transition of the opponent was -in most cases- innacurate and only ledto counter once or twice during the whole game.. right no there is no pressing up front (suarez try tho) therefor more transitions (too many) lead to organised dangerous counters.. in that regard no.. defense is not a 3 men job as you concluded your comment.. its a 11's men job.
