The last leader this team had was Mascherano. This team had so many leaders and potential captains in the past, but now, not one of them would be considered captain material in Rijkaards or Peps team.

This is why get smashed away to every decent side lately.

Normally once the first or second goal goes in the captain rallies the team and tries setting them straight with his leadership. What do we get from this captain when we're leaking goals and in a bad situation? Head drops, starts sulking, walks more than ever and little to no communication.

Rest of the squad is demoralized and gives up.

Say what you want about Neymar, but when we needed 3 goals in 10 minutes against PSG, he was the one that believed. Not Messi.
Absolutely it was Ney that game. The one who truly believed and it was refreshing

Supposed to be a better more mobile lineup with more energy, yet one of the most dreadful halves of football I've watched from Barca.

No point in having players that run and work hard if they don't have the iq and skills to create any danger.

It was one game, dawg.

Ney did fuck all v Juve except give the ball away 40 plus times.

Messi's a terrible captain but he's bailed Barca out approximately 10 times more than Ney.

I’d say MATS or FDJ can be captain some day. It’s just impossible for these guys to be voted captain when you have the incumbents who came up through La Masia in the side.

MATS should be the captain next season. Messi isn’t captain material

Ney is more of a leader for sure.

"He's an example as a captain. Not just talent-wise, also as a person," Abidal told the club's official website.
"He doesn't talk much, but he shows us everything on the field. He's a key player for us and for the dressing room.
"We always say that Leo doesn't need to talk. Everyone knows when he's angry and everyone knows when he's happy.
"His role in the team is important for the young players and the new signings.

Apparently Abidal said these words regarding Messi. It seems like a toxic relationship with zero communication
