I think it should stand because it didnt change the forward direction of the ball but it did change where messi was playing the ball or the depth of the cross I suppose. I think it was meant for suarez but the deflection landed perfectly for fati. Still should be an assist just like a shot on target that's deflected is not an og

Europa changed for EPL teams when CL place became available.

Prior to that it was more or less an afterthought if had something to play for in league.

Can see results of that.

La Liga quality has definitely dropped. Used to be could get virtually a world eleven from Barca/Real. Now probably 2/3 at most.

Would put Bayern as the strongest team in CL this year though.

Dropped then, not now. Which is the argument. If it dropped, it dropped a while ago, rather than now, and certainly not because Alaves didn't turn up today.

Been the same since Real?s 5 trophy season pretty much, with several teams in contention for Europa, but English having a slight resurgence. Not that it matters. If players won?t succeed in England and English top teams don?t regularly win European comps, the prestige won?t be the same and players who improve in La Liga or Serie A will attract talent.
