Lucas Bergvall

It underscores an SD who misread the situation, regrettably not the first failure in <6 months

Perhaps. On reflection it just seems to me that Spurs made him a more convincing offer on every level. Remember that Spurs also beat Juventus to a signing this window too.

We will have to work on our strategy though, but @khaled_a_d made a good point that atleast we are being consistent in sticking to a salary and transfer structure.

Overall under Deco this is our +/- on international prospects

+Darvich
+Faye
+Ibrahim Diarra

-Bergvall (Spurs)
-Guler (Real Madrid)

Not including those we didn't agree a transfer fee on like Echeverri, Moscardo, etc.

Small sample but clear theme on who signed and who didn't on starting out in the B team.

Vitor Roque probably doesn't sign if he goes to the B team first too?

Clubs have always dangled more money to tempt signings from clubs with a history or appeal like Barça, this is not new or revelatory

What is new is being defeated at the finish line when players have previously rebuffed larger compensation packages. Spurs still trumping Barça after 10 clubs were turned down underscores an inability to close the deal- that is the concern going forward

When we didn't get defeated at finish line we were over spending like crazy, with stupid deals like Frenkie & Trincao etc.
People are somewhat asking for impossible, bargain deal, no overpaying, good players and don't lose talents. all together.

Spurs has done the typical move of waiting till a deal is agreed and then enter the race and just top the accepted offer, we have done that ourseleves with Raphinha, Malcom, Kounde, and it was done to us in Vinicius deal before.

Deco has yet to get a fully summer here, as last summer our signings were made by Alemany, let him have one full summer before judging him.

I like Deco. You are always bound to lose playes to teams that pay better. Sounds crazy, but Tottenham are different league to us financially.

Unbelievable golazo.

I said we should have just paid the extra 2-3m his club wanted when he came out and said he wanted to come to Barca instead of Man City.

But yet again we fucked around and another team came in and nabbed. So very predictable. Zero excuses from the club if this guy succeeds. Would have been a perfect Frenkie replacement, who they now want to sell.

Really would love to be wrong, but he looks fantastic.

He wanted to be in 1st team and both him and his club were offered more money.

It isn't just a question of how much, but HOW, as the club already struggles with registration of it's own players.

We will have Roque to register, Cancelo to but and maybe Felix on another loan, then DM and maybe a promotion of someone like Lamine. To add Bergvall to that wasn't possible.

It is the same issue we had with Arda Guler, we had no funds to register him now so we simply couldn't afford what those kids wanted.

Got a chance to see some tidbits of him and how he's doing at Spurs, I know Angie has been doing a pretty decent job handling his minutes but it seems like the consensus is even Spurs is to big of a jump for him right now.

He's talented but man he's struggling, which is expected as he's only 18 years old but I could see why we had the idea of trying to integrate him with the Atletic team first. Just looks like he can't cope with top level football right now.

He is not doing good but he isn't given much of chance either, must hurt his confidence. He arguably should have choose Barca because we wouldn't have any choice than to play him in the beginning of the season. He would probably be in a better place development wise now if he had.

Tottenhams other teenager is doing pretty well though, don't remember his name, maybe Riley (?)

Amazing goal, love dribbling goals.

Lol at the number 2 full-back with his hands in the air asking for the ball when he starts dribbling. Probably felt daft a few seconds later when the ball was in the net lol.

edit; that is from February, Still a brilliant goal.
