we played good against sevilla improved on it against apoel. then decided to throw it all away against Valencia. So why should I have high hopes for him ?

I will say this though, at this rate with all the rotations, Lucho is priming us to peak later in the season, which is where we've fallen apart in the last two seasons after starting strong.

Thats not the case.

IT cant be that its Messis team when they win and Luchos team when they lose.

If thats the case you better blame Messi every time the team fails..... which is totally wrong to do.

That's not really how it works. Of course it's Messi's team when they win (like this) and Lucho's when they lose. Because you can't expect a player to outscore the entire opposition team every game. But when he does, the win sure as hell goes to his credit. But you can and should expect a coach to at least get the tactics solid every time. You don't lose games because one striker didn't score. But you do win games because one striker scored three times. It's not bias, it's simple logic. Granted, if we win with Messi playing like shit and not scoring, obviously it's not to his credit.

Going by posts on here I'd say we lost 1-5.

We did fine, apart from the goal conceded but it's not on Lucho

You are probably right. Both the last 2 seasons we started really strong and ended up bad.I think enrique may know what he is doing.

The improvement in the second half was big. Sure Messi scored right before half-time, but the team went out and played a lot better as well and Lucho deserves credit for it. I only wish he could be more stable. I hope he takes note of the changes in the second half, that DonAndres described perfectly, and keep building from there instead of loosing the momentum like he did against Valencia.

But again I'm getting more hopeful, the second half showed that this system can work very well and that Lucho isn't without a plan.

It's baffling to see that he always/often gets it wrong in the beginning but manages to fix it in the second half. Only once we have managed to score more than 1 goal in the first half, while we score much more goals in the second half like today. It may work against the weaker teams but against top teams this could be deadly.

I will give him some credit and applaud him for the changes in the 2nd half. Its like someone else above mentioned, he seems to know when to make changes when needed.

But we can't wait until the 2nd half to make changes when facing the likes of Bayern, Atletico, or RM in CL or Liga.

I want to see how he'll react to the PSG game this week and the Atletico game in Jan.

THIS! I'm really tired of seeing the lethargic aimless passing and very rarely anything to show for in the 1st half.
The good thing is that Lucho does seem to get them "boosted" for the 2nd half usually but I'd like to see a solid performance from the start. Like we used to do... :icon_neutral:

Can't wait for next year when there will be a new scapegoat for people to blame and Lucho's "Barca" will be hailed as much better compared to the then current side.

Set piece defending is much better now. I think he worked on that. Particularly noticeable against Valencia when they won quite a lot of corners and freekicks and it didn't result in anything.

Watch Barca concede 3 set piece goals against PSG now.

Valencia away is not at all easy. We struggled to control the game. Even madrid does that some times. You can't expect us to beat every team 4-0 and 5-0. Lucho tactics improved a lot after celta match.

Well, Lucho kind of dropped everything and made wholesale changes against Valencia. That's was just pathetic. We did well in the last two games before that one and played well and then he for some strange reason decides to throw everything away and experiment again.

For some reason he loves to experiment in the most difficult and important games.

Maybe he thinks he is still coaching celta lol
