Our pressing was not good in the first half though. And counterpressing was way better under Pep and currently Bayern are the best in that department.
But Lucho improved other aspects of our game.
what a job this guy is doing... in end of february on +8 points from atletico, 12 points from real, unbeaten for 34 games, without messi for 2 months, resting everyone except front three, in CL 0:2 win against arsenal away...AMAZING!!
Which is good since this is a Marathon and not a sprint. We have a nice 8 Point gap on Atletico and a 12 point gap on Real, With this we could continue grinding out games while obviously being in second gear.
I do think Lucho instructs our players to Conserve as much energy as they can and only truly take it up a notch when it's needed. It's Risky if we are winning 1-0 or being 2-1 up but it's been paying off a lot lately. We played so many games this season something needed to be done to brave the Hellish January-February Schedule.
Sure we aren't playing some draw dropping Football a lot like this team could easily do but with the gap we have over Atletico and Real we can afford to grind out games more often and rotate a bit to help us prepare for the later CL stages.
Biggest issue going forward is gaining competitive playing rhythm with less on the line in the coming weeks. Similar concerns were raised for Bayern last season ahead of their tie with Barça after they had wrapped up the league
There's some fluidity in attack that is lacking some consistency & it's not a light switch you can flip on/off very easily
A week rest between games is more than enough. We still need to keep our players sharp. Too much rest and too many easy games are also bad for us. Let's not get carried away here.
