You're welcome
Why did Xavi leave again? He was playing on one of the best sides in history. Didnt he want to ride it out a bit longer? Is it really that important to end on a high not even when the likelihood of winning so much more with that team is on the table.

He left on a treble with 40 M waiting for him in Qatar. Can't blame him.

These fucking amigos. Actions speak louder than words. Guys like Xavi, Iniesta and Mascherano left with dignity. These clowns on the other hand....

This is a myth.

This has been the state of the club since Rossell took over, we allow veterans to stay. Xavi & Puyol were actually first generation of de amigos. All stayed till older age than any of our current players btw.

Xav has been on obvious decline after 2011 season, 2012 was decent, severe decline in 2013 that was masked by team dominance in league, terrible in Tata's season, where he challenged the coach same way like Suarez is doing now, telling him it isn't how we work or how we play.
Final season he was relegated to bench for Rakitic by his former captain, it was clear his time is over and he lost his place so he left next year.

Puyol stayed way too much, was happy to be here, while club keep thinking he is our new "CB signing" until his legs was in pain even during daily life activity.

Mascherano refused to stay till end of season when we asked him to do so, forcing us to sign new player to replace him. That was in 1st year he knew he can't have enough starting games.

Iniesta is the only one left with dignity. Though he was not himself for at least couple of seasons.

They are the reason why our own legends don't think they should leave, they think they have earned it just like previous players. They are still starters, no player came and was able to displace them.

This time it is obvious because they are too many at same time, 6 players with just 2 years difference in age (Suarez,Pique,Messi,Rakitic,Busquets & Alba) and no younger elite players to carry them.

Last time we have been ruthless with our veteran was during Laporta reign, when we told R10 & Deco to leave when they were just 28 & 31. Even though it was still 1 year too late.

This is true, although Xavi was very useful for the squad in 14/15, he still started half the league games and came on providing much needed control with about 20/25 minutes to go in a lot of matches. In fact I can remember him being more effective than Iniesta at times in that season with his reduced role.

Excellent post. Its a shame we are run by a bunch of clowns who don't understand football. We should have been gradually replacing the core instead of wasting 400m on 3 overrated players. Fergie was a master at this and is the reason why he was able to build 3 or 4 successful teams during his time at utd.

Bet this guy (who has a history of racial problems) wishes he could yell at Dembouz for the way this season played out.

Tough break, dawg.

Yep. Noticed the other day, 7 of our players from 2014/15 starting lineups are still starters or feature a lot in our lineup. Stegen, Pique, Alba, Busi, Rakitic, Suarez and Messi. Is there any other top sides like that? On top of that the players around them from previous years have been replaced with lesser quality or bad fits. Absolute shambles from the board.

Barca keep players until their legs have given up on them. Suarez, Rakitic, Busquets offer not much more than Villa, Xavi and Iniesta would offer even now and certainly less than their last seasons here. Messi's pretty much done physically as well but he's so good you can carry that IF there's the players around him.

Also true. Another problem Messi's extrene wages create a snowball effect of us paying high wages to players.
So players are more willing to ride out their expensive contracts than leave.

Madrid have done this way better than us.
