Atl?tico Madrid have contacted Luis Su?rez's representatives. Atl?tico offer a higher salary than Juventus, and now it's up to the player to decide what's best for his future. [espn]

Highly doubt this.

Come to think of it, Atletico Madrid wouldn't be bad for him. Diego Costa has been horrible last season and all he does is just stay up front and try to win 50/50 balls and headers. Suarez could offer a lot more to their attack than Costa.

Him going to Atletico would be better for the league. As much as he's a bum, he should be able to score 10-15 goals for them. A new challenge may force him to put in more effort. He would be a clear upgrade on Diego Costa at least.

Why wouldn't you play him at all if he works hard in practice and does what he is asked to do? The point is to demote him to a squad role if you can't sell him in good terms. Only if he causes trouble in the team he needs to be punished. You can't punish him if he just wants to fulfill his contract.

Order of priorities for me is:

1) Sell him for free but with no payment for years left of his contract

2) And if 1) fails, Keep him until the end of his contract while making sure he can't use any clause that extends his stay. Give him the minutes you usually give to veterans who can't physically play more than 45 mins at a good level. Bench options in games where his experience might count for something.

3) Punish him if he misbehaves or shows he doesn't understand his new role.

Because it sends a message not only to him but other players in the squad. It's better to give game time to eg fati in the Cf position or even Braithwaite than waste anymore time on such a player....

Yeah, no way they can offer him higher wages with lower taxes in Italy.

He has no self-esteem or is he forced to train in Barcelona?

Serghei :"punish him if he misbehave" you have an history of brutal posts here.
So how would You punish him if so?
I'm curious.

How any player that steps out of line is handled. Fines, benching him, leaving him out of the squad, up to tell him to train with the 2nd team if he becomes a problem and is not professional.

How Madrid are punishing Bale.

He wouldn't get any game time that he doesn't deserve. A sub is the best position for him next season if we are not able to move him in good conditions for us.

His biggest problem is that he can't deal with the physical requirements of playing a full game. Which is why he would be a good candidate for an option off the bench when you need a goal. And that would not interfere with the development of the young players.

Because thats exactly what the young and new players need : some fat fuck coming off the bench to yell at every mistake they make , while he fumbles every ball touch.

Then we come back to the disciplinary measures. If Koeman doesn't like something Suarez does, he tells him and he needs to cut it out. If not, Koeman will act accordingly and maybe decide that next time he will not play at all.

That's the benefit of having a manager with authority, he can exercise his full job and has a wide array of tools and tactics he can use to make players follow his word. I'm pretty sure that's how Lucho approached things as well, when he started to bench some important players in his first season. Those players started to perform better after they were shown the stick.

Would rather not let it get to that phase.

He needs to be shipped out, to simplify things for Koeman as much as possible.

We really approached his exit the wrong way.. its typical of Barto to ignore his massive decline for 2 years and then suddenly 'you arent in our plans and we'll terminate your contract'. Although we'd all like to see it, you can't just throw players away and move them around like cattle; this is why we should of phased out 1-2 seniors per season after Rome

It's a shame the players (Messi, Suarez etc) cant just go to war with Barto AFTER he leaves office as they end up hurting the club in the long run which is something imo they don't actually want.

Needs to be told to either leave or stay with 0
minutes on the pitch and individual training only.

That way he will get to pick either what is left of his wages here or a pay cut but he will get (most probably) a 2 year contract + game time + 99% serie a title.
