I said what my solution is. I would wait. We have 5 attackers right now. Coutinho, Malcom, Dembele, Suarez and Messi. We can always play Messi in the middle and Suarez for sure has one more year in him. My solution is to wait for another year simply because I see no obvious solution on the market right now. In the next year new talents will emerge for sure and some players (e.g. Rashford) could become available. Imagine we buy Jovic for 50 mil and he get's Malcoms treatment which will probably happen. How much would he be worth next summer?

Ok, so you'd rather we wait for Suarez to decline even further in the hope that some new great striker emerges in the next 2 years? Sorry, but that's just asking for trouble. If Jovic won't prove to be the striker that we need, we'll look to sell him for 30-40 and buy the new Villa, Lewa or whatever big striker emerges in the next years. At this point it's a no brainer to try and sign a striker as Suarez isn't getting any younger. The nose faced cunt should get a fucking hint and rotate him as much as he can in the next year. And create an environment where players can develop. We can't only buy WC players because we don't have infinite money so Valverde should learn to fucking integrate players that are not the finished article.

Fact is, only Mbappe is a sure bet at this point but he's not going anywhere else for 2 years at least. Maybe Kane too but you go on ahead and spend over 200m for him. Other than that there is no one that you can say that he'll be sure fire starter for the next 5 years, so we should look at our options at this moment while the likes of Mbappe or whoever become available. Jovic is young, has good potential and he's not an unrealistic target. Are there others like him? Maxi Gomez but he's probably even less proven than Jovic. Plus he'll occupy another non eu spot too so we'd have to lose someone to shove him on our squad.

Like I said, we can sell him in case he'll not develop how we'd hope but not going for anyone right now because some imaginary striker will become the cat's tits in the next years is foolish imo.

According to MD Frankfurt will execute Jović's buy option before the end of this month. Then we can probably start to officially negotiate with them.

Agree. Also Kane will not come to be backup for Suarez or Suarez to accept to become a backup striker.
I see Jovic is the best option in the market for a backup striker with good potential who can rotate with Suarez. He may end up as a great starter or being another Paco where we can sell him and get a better one

Well don't get me wrong, I wouldn't spend 200m for Kane but if, hypothetically, Barto decides to splash the cash on him, Suarez can suck a dick if he doesn't accept a lesser role in that case.

Suarez will have to accept a backup role in the next season or two. He is perfectly aware of that. So why not buy all we need this season except a striker (De Jong, De Ligt, LB) and than splash our entire transfer funds on Kane in 2020? I am also very curious to see how will Rashford develop in the next year or two.

Would anyone consider Gabigol as an alternative?

His scoring record has been excellent since returning to Brazil. It would not be farfetched to think that Inter may even consider a straight swap with Rafinha. They did give up Zaniolo in the Nainggolan deal after all.

But it's not like it's De Ligt/Lb or Jovic. We can easily buy them all. It's gonna be around 80 for De Ligt and around 50 for Jovic. LB I believe we can go for a Felipe Luis on a free.

Gomes will be sold for around 40, Denis and Rafinha will fetch us an additional 20m so there's your Jovic. This without any further departures because push comes to shove we sell Coutinho and fund a large part of their fees.

It doesn't hurt to try buying someone like Jovic because you can always recoup his fee in 2 years time of he flops or someone like Mbappe becomes available.

32 goals in 62 games for people wondering.

Not really excellent.

Good numbers, especially league output last year and the start to this Libertadores.

Not saying he should be ahead of Jovic as an option (being non-eu aswell). But if the choice is to spend on de Ligt and have an low-cost understudy to Suarez for a year (with 40m/50m being too much), then he can be a consideration.

Abidal, Planes and Segura all there to watch him play? I think we're going to sign him. It's rare those three travel together unless it's to finalize a transfer target.

Gabigol is garbage. Don't want that Neymar wannabe here.
