People should understand that we arguibly let the best player of all time leave and we let in the worst player of all time.. That's the most polarized action ever.. Stunning.

Luuk De Jong and Depay combined have played 1407 minutes and totalled 3 NPG. That's an average of a non-penalty goal every 469 minutes from two forwards combined. It is clear to me the issue is in chance creation and in the strikeforce.

Depay is not a real 9, he's a winger or second striker type and Luuk De Jong is pretty much just a big guy who will score you a header once in a blue moon. We did not solve the 9 problem again.

It's funny how we manage to turn average to decent players into candidates for the worst player of all time. Luuk de Jong is the latest victim in the long line of players like Alex Song, Andre Gomes, Yerry Mina, Kevin Prince Boateng and Coutinho.

This isn't saying he wasn't atrocious today - he really fucking was. I just wonder what it is that players like him come to Barca and somehow they manage to forget even the most basic of football knowledge and look like genuine amateurs. Is the pressure really that much higher compared to clubs like Sevilla or Liverpool?

Disaster. Could end his single season at Barcelona with 3-4 goals.

Nah, he'll get more. Seriously, half the users on this forum would get 5 goals at Barca over a season if they get fit enough to last 90 mins on the field. Especially considering that Luuk is somehow playing pretty often.

We don't play a style of football that suits these players. Things like crosses or long ball football are not used in this team so when you put relegation Laliga level target men who only know how to do one thing up front for this club they will look like 4th division quality. Luuk De Jong is alright at one style of football and we don't play it here. Neither at Sevilla who gave us a loan with a free buy option for him.

He is the type of player for Alaves or maybe a Cadiz at most.

It's just bizarre cause he had so many chances at headers from crosses today - that should literally be his bread and butter, no? I'd understand if he sucks at quick passing and dribbling but when he even forgets how to do things that are what he's known for individually, it's just so strange to see.

Well there's a reason he failed in every top league. Discarded at Gladbach, discarded at Newcastle, discarded at Sevilla, now probably discarded here, he doesn't have the skills to play in a top league. He might have the attributes to get on the end of a cross (height, size, jump) but doesn't have the finishing/composure/skill to convert those, which is why he only scored like 10 league goals for Sevilla over 70 apps

He is the type of player a relegation team might start and put in 20 shitty crosses to a game hoping he scores one. His efficiency is very low.

Stunning how low is the self awareness of those supposed to know it all catalans.. A slow tall player "for extra options" is something that has never worked in barcelona.. A barca typical striker is either a cheetah or someone who is not necessarily fast but super quick (think romario, saviola).. The reasons behind this are various, chief amongst them the style of play and the size of the camp nou pitch. Luke de jong is like the anti christ of that profile.
