We need to get much greater financial backing if we're to truly compete with the PL top dogs for big-name signings. Almost all of our golden generation is above the age of 30 and decline is apparent, we can't expect to keep pulling world class players from our academy anymore, we need to be able to maneuver the transfer market swiftly and effectively. There is no reason other than this board's incompetency to negotiate that we don't have the same money to spend in the transfer market that other big clubs do.

Will will sign some more overrated La Liga bench fodder this summer as well and hope for them to transform themselves into world class players here, not happening.

The tendency is dangerous though. Clubs that run like a normal bussiness, and look at income as well as profit and such will not be able to keep up with oil clubs that can take a 200m. loss like it's nothing.

What is the balance between income and expenditure for a club like City in the last 4-5 years?

Barcelona and Real Madrid will always be the #1 attraction/destination for players. But yes, you do need the cash to buy them.

I doubt the disparity is as huge has you imagine. They're making about £90m a year from domestic TV deal alone.

What has happened to FFP? There is no way Manchester City should be allowed to spend 300 million a summer after spending 180 and 150 the year before. All their sponsorship deals and fucking made up aswell.

The 'comprehensive' deals they signed are harder to argue against because they had no precedent, even though they were clearly bent. And with transfer amortization accountants can bend the rules easily anyway.

Dont think FFP was ever about restricting clubs like City/Chelsea. It was to prevent situations like Leeds, reduce debts not hinder investment.
