Everything comes down to the manager one way or another. At the same time the first goal was a defensive calamity. Then the sending off which gave Galatasaray an advantage. It's a team full of players that constantly make silly errors. Rashford passing instead of shooting e.g.

Seems like he's signed the players he wanted though so he can't hide behind the players. Has also been very unlucky with injuries. But ultimately, like Xavi last year, he has a good enough squad to be getting out of that ucl group, so just as it wasn't an excuse for Xavi it's not one for ETH.

To be honest I do still think he's a very good manager. Manchester United are a poisoned chalice that I'm not sure many coaches could sort out currently.

Sure, he's made mistakes in terms of transfers and he's not free from blame but the circus in Salford is making him look worse than he actually is.
