lol.... Seems like it's imminent now... BBC not denying it, Sky Sports saying it's happening, ESPNFC saying it too.... Even Rio is causing a stir on twitter LOL. Well, Moyes definitely did deserve it so. Too many issues... Squad rotation, post-match interviews, playing the wrong players in the wrong positions, that dick shape formation, everything LOL

Fellaini IMO wasn't too much of a mistake (he's still an oaf on the ground though....), but IMO the two things that kinda nailed the coffin are the Mata signing and the Rooney contract following the signing. They never did play with a true play with a number 10, and Kagawa has always been a world class number 10 (I still stand by the fact that he's better than Mata there....). Now, they're pushing Kagawa there on the wing again with Mata. Only difference is they're playing well when they have the ball but now the problem is Rooney doesn't want to play forward anymore (he has always wanted to play behind the striker lol...). Also, the current shape isn't ideal. If Moyes had to play them together, he needs the brazilian box 4-2-2-2..... Otherwise, that 4-2-3-1 they try playing becomes a dick formation LOL. Honestly also, refusing to play Welbeck as a pure striker isn't good either. He's literally just another Kagawa, being played out of position. Brendan Rodgers' situation is different because he always had promising games and always seemed to bring his own flavor to the team but without results (and probably personnel...). Now, Liverpool's going to win the league (Brendan Rodgers is... a tactical mastermind though LOL). A team that won the league last year now playing like this... It's either the players that have to go or the manager. And obviously, based on last year, the manager has to go.

tldr he had to go a long time ago and now it's finally happening

Fellaini was a mistake. He's a shit central midfielder and his best performances for Everton were not in central midfield but as a second striker. Everton got a superior midfielder (McCarthy) for half the price.

It was expected to be a season of transition but I think it has surprised most people at how much the season has been an unmitigated disaster. I am NOT a Moyes fan and I wouldn't have appointed him to begin with, no matter what SAF said. But now that he is there I think he should be given the next transfer window to bring in his players as it is clear that a lot of the current squad need moving on.

It'll be difficult without the draw of CL football, but as Liverpool have proved - not impossible. If there are no signs of improvement by December then axe him and at least then Moyes and SAF can't say they weren't given a fair crack of the whip. If he is given the summer I'm fairly certain that he will learn from his (many) mistakes and improve. He's not a bad manager but I think many overrated the job he did at Everton.

It's a bizarre situation that Manchester United should appoint a manager that is learning on the job, but the hierarchy knew this when they signed him. I have seen Man Utd play several times this season and have been surprised at how poor they have been, but can it ALL be down to Moyes?

Like I said; I don't rate him but the board should stand by their decision until at least December, once Moyes has signed his own players and implanted his own ideas on the team. Some say that the job is too big for him, he's out of his depth and he doesn't have experience of winning titles, but the same could be said (NO, the same was said) of Brendan Rodgers.

If your judging him on results and performances this season alone then yes, he should go. However, if you take in to account he probably had the toughest job taken over from SAF and was always on a hiding to nothing. The pressure of coaching such a massive club has affected his decision making and he has struggled to assert his ideas on what is still SAF's team. Whoever took over from SAF was going to find it difficult. Moyes has lost confidence of his players, fans and now it appears the board. He hasn't helped himself much of the time and releasing all of the back-room staff has left him without a conduit to the players. His only way to rectify that is by shipping out the disruptive influences and bringing in new players that will play for him and the shirt. Ones that buy into to his modus operandi.

Do Manchester United really want to drift from coach to coach and become another club with no long term plan and abandon the idea of stability and continuity that has brought them unprecedented success over the last 25 years? Once you go down that path you run the risk of becoming a rudderless ship, constantly turning over new players and it's hard to build a solid foundation and develop young talent which is something Man Utd has always prided itself on.

If you can get a Klopp or Simeone, then go for it! They are proven winning Coaches. But there is still no guarantee they will succeed either.

He hasn't shown enough to merit getting another transfer window, and with the numbers being quoted it could set us back a lot more than a few records, nah you just know when someone is out of their depth the pressure is too much for him.

Beyond impossible but what i wouldn't give for...

Manchester United assistant Steve Round and first-team coach Jimmy Lumsden have also left their posts with player-coach Ryan Giggs to take charge in the interim.

It was a terrible hire from the off and United can blame the man who gave them success for decades in SAF...When you look at the contrast in Everton's rise to the top and United's descent, that's it in a nutshell...Toffee fans should at least thank their former manager for profiting so well on Fellaini

Player manager in Giggs is an odd turn of events but tells you that the inmates are running the asylum, being a legendary footballer doesn't equate to becoming a great coach nevermind adequate one for the biggest clubs

Our season is over its just a stopgap there is no way Giggs will still be in charge come next season. If Van Gaal is indeed the replacement, for better or worse, he has a world cup to compete in.

Van Gaal would be a foolish hire at this point considering how unavailable he would be in the transfer window with an upcoming World Cup, a window that the club desperately needs to do well in and fortify at key positions. Timing is poor and Moyes should've been shown the door sooner (Winter) when it was clear he had no business managing a big club

Even in the short term, the club would've done better to employ a coach with coaching experience to at least see what they could manage out of the remaining squad

Yeah thats the only negative with Van Gaal hopefully we have some way around it, at this point though im just glad Moyes has gone. By all accounts the decision was made in February after the olympiakos defeat, winter was too early to act especially before another transfer window.

You can tell he lost the dressing room, the players knew before the everton game he was teetering on the edge they gave him nothing, Giggs is the short term appointment no point employing anyone it doesn't matter if we lost every game from now. Qualifying for europa league would be better than nothing but we need to concentrate on league next season.

Glad Chris woods is staying on, hes done wonders with De gea.

TIMELINE OF MOYES'S TENURE AT OLD TRAFFORD
September 1 - United suffer first defeat under Moyes as Daniel Sturridge gives Liverpool victory at Anfield. Wayne Rooney misses the game with a nasty head wound after being kicked in the head accidentally by Phil Jones in training.
September 22 - Hammered 4-1 at Manchester City. This time Robin van Persie is absent with a thigh injury.
September 28 - United lose 2-1 at home to West Brom, ending the Baggies' 35-year wait for an Old Trafford triumph.
October 19 - Concede last-minute Adam Lallana equaliser against Southampton at Old Trafford.
December 4 - Bryan Oviedo scores four minutes from time as Moyes' former club Everton end their 21-year wait for an away win over United.
December 6 - Rio Ferdinand criticises Moyes' policy of leaving it late to pick his teams, claiming on BT Sport: "It turns you into a madman."
December 7 - Yohan Cabaye gets the only goal as Newcastle win at Old Trafford for the first time since 1972.
December 10 - Van Persie suffers thigh injury taking a corner against Shakhtar Donetsk, and is ruled out for seven weeks.
January 1 - Rooney plays in the defeat by Tottenham but is then ruled out for four weeks with a groin injury.
January 5 - Swansea win at Old Trafford for the first time as Wilfried Bony's late goal sends United out of the FA Cup at the third-round stage for only the second time in 30 years.
January 7 - Defeat in Capital One Cup semi-final first leg at Sunderland means a third straight loss for the first time since May 2001.
January 19 - Skipper Nemanja Vidic is sent off as United crash to defeat at Chelsea.
January 22 - United beat Sunderland 2-1 in the Capital One Cup semi-final return leg thanks to Javier Hernandez's last-gasp effort in extra-time but come off worst in an awful penalty shoot-out, with only Darren Fletcher scoring from their five kicks.
February 1 - Stoke end their long wait for a win against United. Charlie Adam's double gives them their first since 1984.
February 7 - Vidic confirms he will leave at the end of the season.
February 9 - United come from behind to lead bottom side Fulham at Old Trafford, but Darren Bent's stoppage-time equaliser settles a 2-2 draw to deny the hosts all three points. Moyes describes the result as being "as bad as it gets".
February 25 - It proves gruesome in Greece for United in the Champions League last 16 as a poor performance sees the Red Devils beaten 2-0 by Olympiacos in Piraeus.
March 16 - Another day United will want to forget in a hurry as two Steven Gerrard penalties and a Luis Suarez strike earns Liverpool a crushing 3-0 win at Old Trafford. It could have been even worse for Moyes' men as Gerrard also hit the post with another penalty.
March 25 - United lose 3-0 to bitter rivals for the second consecutive home league game as a brace from Edin Dzeko and a late strike from Yaya Toure hands Manchester City a derby double over their city rivals. The result ensured United were guaranteed to end the season with their lowest points total in Premier League history.
April 9 - Despite an encouraging 1-1 draw in the first leg and taking the lead through Patrice Evra, the Red Devils go down 3-1 to defending champions Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final at the Allianz Arena.
April 20 - Moyes' return to Goodison Park is turned into a nightmare as a Leighton Baines penalty and a goal from Kevin Mirallas hand Everton a 2-0 win, a result which means United cannot qualify for the Champions League.
April 22 - Moyes is sacked by United.
