Marc Bartra

He's an absolute beast. Numerous times he has saved my butt from losing in Fifa 11  I play Manager mode with Barca B and I absolutely love this player. Perfect defender and his headers are very good.

P.S. I know it's pathetic that I'm judging him based on a game hahaa

Glad Bartra got that goal today. Will erase the sour taste he left with his defensive performance.

He's also taller than Fontas in that game for some reason.

Marc Bartra extended his contract until 2014. Buyout clausule will be from 10 to 30M depending on his performances.

Heard Pep will start third phase with him, sergi roberto and montoya = rotating between B and A team and preparing them for promotion.

I believe that would be 2nd phase. Isnt third that they are sent back to B-team to prove that they can carry that team to success. At least that was how it happened with Thiago.

Anyway, good to hear that. I think that would end discussion about buying a defender.

Good news. Seems lessons have been learnt, quite a few promising talent have been tied down this summer

Bold = Hell yeah! La Masia's defenders are promising.

Don't worry. I like him better than Fontas, too.

He has some intangibles that make him a more interesting prospect than Fontas, speed & skill...But defensively, he's not nearly as disciplined as Andreu, IMO

He captained the U-20 side against Costa Rica, had a fine performance

He does seem to be a fine last-ditch guy, which is needed to play Barca defense.

Fontas and Bartra will never be Pique and Puyol. I think both the youngsters are more enterprising, more Brazil-type backs. They're both going to be good, but Pique and Puyol quality does not come around often.

I completely agree, Fontás is the most secure option defensively. I'd reckon Bartra isn't that great a defender, but his passes and touches are sublime. If he was 1,70 he'd be a great midfielder or RB.
