This..Iker is the one who dissapointed me the most..if you watch the Supercup again, at the end he was arguing very badly with Xavi and made some bad signs to the ref(like they have been robbed..again). When I see their capitain's behavior and then I see our Puyol(who in the 24 sec was encouraging everybody), my heart cries with joy.
The only players that I really respect from them are Higuain and Benzema
..I really would have liked to see the french in a blaugrana kit. He has too much class for that team full of douchebags.
Eh? This is sports after all, what the hell do you expect? You never played football before? Casillas will speak out, he will say things that do not appeal to you every once in a while but hardly anything to hold against him. Your camp was spewing a lot of shit through key players when things got tough but its nothing to hold against them because we all know that when all is settled, a lot of these players are in fact class.
As for that fat agent, I don't know. Maybe he does have an influence that I am unaware of, maybe Perez is allowing too much freedom within the club. All I know is that no Madrid player can be blamed for not trying, or accused of not working hard because they are in fact, are. It is just that matters have hit a nerve on a personal level. Achievements are also personal. A lot of these players want to take it to Barcelona, personally. That is what is keeping the team from gelling to the full extent. There is also a hierarchy in the club, and Ronaldo is at the pinnacle of it (I sound like I am hating on him too much but I am not). Then there are groups formed due to popularity and financial discrimination, exemplified in Benzema's unfair wages. For all of Messi's achievements, he doesn't even hold top three positions within the club. Seniority doesn't play a role in Madrid anymore, nor does maturity, nor does identity.
Besides Casillas and Xabi, there is no other worthy captain. Xabi should be taking freekicks, but Ronaldo is on top of every single one of them. At all times, Barcelona has three captains on the field, and I am not even considering Messi or Iniesta in these three. Puyol, Valdes, Xavi are always ever present, when one of them is missing, Abidal has been a leader. Why Abidal? Because he is a mature person, and if he wasn't, Puyol would have never given him the rare moment of lifting the CL trophy; even if he had over come cancer.
The players below Casillas and Xabi that deserve captaincy have grown up at Madrid with a huge turn over, and without much guidance on the pitch. Xabi is only a recent acquisition by the way so its only Casillas who has been ever present and even his entourage has been dissolved. The rightful bearer of the captaincy is Ramos, but he is only 25. He has it in him to become captain, but its too early and someone like Fernando has never been there for Ramos. Helguera was let go, as was Carlos and those should have preferably been pursued to stay involved somehow, to nurture the talents like Ramos. But he is only 1 year older than I am and has been stuck through good and bad times a lone most of the time.
The Super Copa proved to me that Barcelona on a football level is not unplayable, Madrid have played them and to a certain extent matched them. What is unparalleled is the mental strength and the perseverance and endurance. Mourinho will continue to be mocked, its understandable, but I know he did the right thing with Madrid and there is nothing more that he, or anyone else can do. Its man for man on the pitch, and it got to the player's head. Unfortunately.
What Madrid needs to do is have someone professional psyche the players into winning mode. The pressure at Madrid is at the highest anywhere in the world, even legends have been known to get psychiatric treatment before and after matches. Marcelo, Ronaldo, and Ozil sure as hell need some help. If I am not mistaken, I think Capello used that method and it worked out very well for him.
Again, I read so many things here Cules have wrote and its so far from truth about Madrid. Either these people are bitter themselves, or new to the game, or biased or simple too opinionated or have grown a superiority complex. Either way, so much talk has been revolved around tactics, and all that shit but for those who know Madrid too well, or know the history of the two clubs would know its rarely about the quality of football, or quality of the teams, to some extent the coaches, its 90% political. Be it external or internal is usually defined by the era, this time around it sure as hell internal.
PS. Even though I said Madrid can play Barcelona and beat them, I still think Barcelona are superior. And Messi is on another level.
