Marco Verratti

DonAK

President of FC Barcelona
Robert didn't exactly say that. He said he don't want to talk about a player and when you want to sign a player you have to agree with his club to sell him. For me that seemed like he was ready to move on since PSG don't want to sell.

I can't even think of anyone in our midfield who is almost as good as him, never mind "much better". Who are you talking about exactly? Gomes? Rakitic? Arda? Denis?

I'm genuinely puzzled by this comment.

Last time I checked Busquets is a midfielder, a deep lying playmaker actually. Jesus some of you probably think Busi is some classic DM who does little in possession. How far from the truth is that

If you watch his game carefully, Busquets is a total midfielder. In possession of the ball is actually a playmaker. Even with Xavi and Iniesta in the team he would contribute with key passes and would trick opponents into thinking he does one thing, while doing the opposite. He's the no1 master in the world at bait and switch plays. When he does a faint, everybody falls for it. Some world class players have been put to ground by Busi's tricks and faints. How in the hell is that not a midfielder? Busi, Kroos, Modric. Best midfielders in the world bar none.

All of you who think Verratti is the best thing since sliced bread, watch some Sergio Busquets videos. That's a one of the best midfielders of his generation with ease, and I'm not talkiing about mere potential, as with Verratti, but about actually being the best while playing in the best games against the best teams. Verratti is all about potential at this second. He has the ability to be world class, but is not actually world class in the truest sense of the word, because when the stakes were the highest, he buckled. Never had a really world class game at the highest level.

Except Busi plays DM and would be playing with Verratti, not competing with him for playing time. And last I checked Kroos and Modric don't even fucking play for Barca.

Busi playing DM is a bit like Messi playing RW. That's actually on paper. In reality, his inluence goes well beyond that position. He is a DLP, deep lying playmaker if you wanna tag him with a position.

Indeed, nobody is thinking about benching busquets for verratti. Both will be on the pitch.. But for his position who's really better?

Of course not, but some speak about Verratti as some kind of footballing god who will come at Barca to save those poor bastards from misery. How fucked up is that?

Not at all. Take Verratti, and take Kroos for example. Really now, think for a second. Do you really think Verratti deserves to be considered at the same level as Kroos? No. We can call him world class as in a player of great ability, but he surely has some work to do to have the credentials and the results of a world class player in the truest sense of the word. This is the main argument for why he should have forced a move to Barcelona. To become as great of a player as the likes of Kroos and Busquets and others. He has the ability, but he doesn't have the results. Without the results, he can never be world class.

Being world class and being a winner is an instant connection. Verratti ain't a winner on a global scale. He ain't even close to that. Is not even a winner in France anymore, couldn't even win a league against a team made with less than a tenth of PSG's budget.

Well,Verratti has played 30+ league games once in 5 years at 1st division football. Missed 10 or more games in two out of them.
To some extent he has the potential to be world class because health is part of the player.

I have never read in my Life that level of stupidity.
He Can be world class only going to Barca?
I don't think Kroos is that good is very overrated for me. I take Kevin De Bruyne over Kroos any day of the weak. De Bruyne Can do all the things of Kroos better than him. Has 0 trophy still for me is better player than Kroos.
Of course Verratti is world class top 5 midfielder in the world, better and more important for me in a team than Busquets, who should thanks others player for what he has won not itself. To be honest Busquets is what he is thanks to Barca, in others teams who are not so good in keeping possession would have never been so important.
Verratti offer much more to the team than Busquets.

CRonaldo and Messi are the player who have made their teams winning teams, not Xavi, not Modric, Iniesta, Kroos or Busquets. The others clubs are not able to win the Champions League because they don't have players of those level.

You say you never read in your life that level of stupidity and you then go on saying De Bruyne is better than Kroos. Do you not read your own posts before you post them? Because that would be the only logical thing that comes off from the comment above.

Verratti will be at the level of Busquets and Kroos when he will at least come close to what they have done in football. He can start by going past the QF and not lose 6-1 with his team in embarassing fashion, making himself and his teammates the joke of the football world.

While I agree with you that Verratti has to take one step more to become a true world class I really don't agree that Kroos is better in any way. For me Modric is 2 levels above Kroos.

That being said I also agree that Verratti will never reach greatness with PSG, he has to move and I don't see that happening. He is a perfect match for Barca but he wouldn't bring an instant Xavi effect. He still has to learn and improve and than he can become one of the world's best. For being a really great player you also have to win some major trophies.

Verratti reminds me in some way of Chris Paul who is a marvelous player but until this year he was playing for shitty Clippers. Something similar to Verratti's case.
