He played his best football as an LWB in a 3ATB system under the likes of Conte where he was afforded the protection and freedom to push forward as he always had that 3rd CB and Midfield to help cover for him.

As a pure LB, he's pure garbage from what he's shown so far, Just so slow and clumsy and bad at both ends of the pitch. We have had some bad Fullbacks but he's certainly up there with them.

he looked equally shit moving forward or backward or sideward. as stiff as it can get.

Very shaky. Its outrageous that people, with the benefit of hindsight, think Xavi should've played him at CB instead of Pique against Inter. Atleast one is a natural CB and not a LWB.

Xavi played both of them together against Inter, with Busi in front of both and Frenkie on the bench

Triangle of unathleticism and slowlines.

I want to see this 3 against Mane, Sane and Coman.

I know he played both but Alonso was LB in that game and the CB pairing was Eric and Pique. However, after the game, there were some who said Xavi should've played Alonso over Pique and had Alba/Balde at LB.

Don't think Alonso would've been much of an improvement over Pique at CB.

Think everyone saw this as being a bad signing from a mile off. Yet the geniuses buying players at barca couldn't.
