He has signed with Gremio.
As a Grêmio fan, I am mind blown by this. Mind blown in the sense of shooting my own head in despair.
Grêmio is just desperate as last year we finished second in the league with Suarez.
Then we signed Diego Costa, who was doing really well, much better than when he returned to Brazil to play with Atletico Mineiro. But he got injured. An ALL our strikers are injured. Even the kid that we promoted from the Youth categories after he won the golden boot in the national U20 tournament last year.
So we signed what seems a VERY promesing Uruguayan striker... and.... BRAITHWAITE? WTF
Want to see him playing the Sul Americana (since I doubt we will be able to qualify to the Libertadores again this year), against some bolivian club at 4200 meters altitude.
Btw, I heard someone say he has connections to South America because his father or mother is from Guyana.. LOL, for some reason, Guyana doesn´t even belong to CONMEBOL, but to CONCACAF.
ps: Grêmio is still playing without it's stadium, due to the Rio Grande do Sul floods from May. While the stadium was submerged for over 3 weeks, the pitch was changed and the interior of the first floor apparently renovated. But the problem is the Electrical Substation that serves the stadium. The equipment is imported and will only arrive and be installed in September.
But even Porto Alegre's airport is not working. Inter and Grêmio had to relocate to other cities around Brazil to play, because they couldn´t travel out of Porto Alegre nor could other teams fly to Porto Alegre. It was crazy. Biggest floods in the recorded history of the state. Half a meter higher water level than the previous record from 1941.
