The thing is that he barely got any support from the strikers yesterday, there was one occasion where he made a great run but he had to shoot because not a single player spotted his run and went into the box to receive a pass from him. It's a common issue of our game, there's very little and poor movement in the box which limits us as far as variety of attacks is concerned, this team is way too static and that's a shame because both Alba and Montoya are deadly weapons on the flank. Montoya certainly has things to work on and I'd like him to take more and better shots because he's often in the right positions, but I stay by my argument that Montoya is primarily an attacking full back, and a very talented one. Just because he's so much better than Dani in defense doesn't mean he's bad at attacking, as some are trying to make it look like.
I'm happy to see he did well after some uninspiring performances this season, maybe it has something to do with his renewal and the fact that he feels more secure and valued at the club now. Seeing him do so well on both ends of the pitch is truly refreshing and if he stays focused, gets more playing time to prove himself and improves some aspects of his game, he can become as good as it gets. He has everything that Dani lacks and every time I see him play, I'm reminded of how extremely overrated Dani is - both in general and on this forum - and how little people appreciate Montoya's qualities.
