How dare you bring facts to a rant fight.

For the record he also said he trusted bartra. But some people will ignore the the facts just to defend their idols and consider anything else blasphemy

Barca defenders have to be technically brilliant. Look no further than the recent Ajax match and what happens when you have Pinto in goal, Mascherano hoofing it under pressure and 2 fullbacks who aren't comfortable with the ball at their feet. You don't play Barca football with John Terry at the back. AVB tried.

According to Pique, we are trying to play a different football right now. Also if we are to blame someone for what happend against Ajax, Pinto will be the last of our players. And last, but not least Abidal before Pep wasn't technically brilliant and Mascherano is a better passer than Puyol.

Tito in his first press conference said that he wanted a CB..and then he said that Wenger told him that Song can play as a CB. It would be interesting to know what happend between Tito's first press conference and the moment they decided to buy Song.

It's exactly this kind of false pride that had led us to our downfall. Our slogan maybe mes que un club but most players today are hard workers and of good character. Who are we to judge their character when we ourselves have betrayed our ideals by associating ourselves with Qatar.
Seriously this technical ability BS had gone on too long. A defender needs to know how to defend first. If we only look for a fancy passer we will get more piques. I'm sure a high potential youngster like Balanta can learn how to pass.

It has nothing to do with "false pride". I can guarantee you that the one thing that would lead to our downfall would be signing defenders and goalkeepers who have no idea what to do with the ball. Our style of play is based on having possession and our players are short and best suited to that playing style; most of them have been taught to play like that since they were little boys.

If our defenders (or GK's) eratically shoot the ball forward, we lose the ball, which means we have less time to score and we are more likely to concede goals. In the last few games, Mascherano, Adriano and Pinto have made several stupid clearances, we lost the ball way too much, sometimes barely got out of our own half and even conceded as a direct consequence to these clearances.

Not every defender we sign has to be as intelligent and good on the ball as Xavi, and I also agree that we shouldn't go for anyone who's just good on the ball and can't defend properly, but there are numerous examples of players who can do both. Hummels would be my suggestion; his footwork is amazing and on a good day, he's brilliant in defense. His problem is his inconsistency; if he were more consistent, I dare say he could even be the best defender in the world.

Today I learned October is the new start of the summer.

Tito said they had money to sign a cb, but he told the club not to. In the summer, not in october. He just told that to the press in october.

Puyol isn't technically amazing and he worked just fine under Pep. Seriously, we don't need our defenders to be fucking Xavis.

Puyol is an exception because he was an outstanding defender with incredible leadership and was brought up at Barça, if you find me a young version of him I'll happily take him, but there is no one around. And even Puyol was benched by Pep quite a few times after Mascherano arrived.

Also, no need to be rude and to exaggerate. I presented my points and already said they don't need to be Xavis, but they need to at least know what to do with the ball on their feet.

You've got a point. He had to be lying in one of the quotes, it is more likely that he was lying in October to show confidence in his defenders at the time.

He only wanted T.Silva, so he probably really told the club to bring Silva or save the money.

I heard that he really wanted T Silva, but was told that he was not possible, but he was still adamant on his decision of getting a CB.

In the end, somehow Song was made out to be a player who could play as a CB by god knows who.......
