Martin Odegaard

DonAK

President of FC Barcelona
Don't know what the issue with him at Real Madrid was, but until his Real Sociedad stint he wasn't playing the pass forward and creating chances as he always could. Was always passing the ball sideways or taking the easy way out, even for the national team.

That loan move changed everything for him.

Reckon he would flop if he returned to Madrid.

There's some guys who just can't do it at a big club.

And there are others who can, but can't overcome the initial failure and self-pressure when they return.

Watching this guy killing EPL now, feel sad about Halilovic.

I remember when Real signed Odegaard and Barca signed Halilovic, there were rumors that we had to pick between one of them because apparently we didn't have money (yet we had money for a fraud Neymar transfer, Coutinho, Dembele, Griezmann, Arda, Ferran etc).
And we picked you know whom.

Some will say that I am reading too much from one transfer, but:
Real bought 178cm player, we bought a 170 cm player
Our player has zero muscles
Our player was always insanely dumb, they buy one of the smartest midfield playmakers around
We buy a mental midget, who is not only a low IQ, but a poor professional and mentaly fragile. They buy a guy who seems to be a leader or a falling giant Arsenal and is bringing them back to top spots.
7-8 years later, Halilovic got fired from every single club where he played and today he plays in the bottom table Croatian club.
Current market value: Odegaard 60m, Halilovic 0,3 millions.

Our philosophy has tons of flaws. And Messi was masking those flaws for years.
Our scouts' decision to pick Halilovic over Odegaard in a nutshell explains directions of RM and Barca in the last 7-8 years and why RM is way more successful in Europe.
As if we never look for physique, psychology, leadership. All we look at is a good first touch and technique. Some sort of Joga Bonita traits.
When you remove Messi from the team, our players lately can compete only against the likes of Getafe, Levante and Girona.
6th-7th placed German or EPL teams are way too strong for them.

What are you talking about?! At that time we chose a player who possessed Messi-esque talent. Halilovic was several steps above his age. Who could have predicted that such a player would fail so much.

Half of fans who watched him in Croatia, me included, from the first day said that he has a weak physique, low IQ, diva issues, professionalism issues.
And that he is a one trick pony more or less.

But he glided with the ball the same as Messi (similar to how Arthur's moves visually resembled on Xavi).
And we got two Wallmart versions of Messi and Xavi.

Yet RM won 5 CLs since then.
Do you know why?
Because they don't live in the past and sweet dreams.
They are not looking for the carbon copy of Zidane, Figo, Modric, Kroos or Cr7.
They just buy the next big thing and their tactics evolve and go with the flow based what is efficient in certain eras.

Yet we are always stuck with the same type of players for 15-20 years.

Let me guess: that's who we are, that's what made us famous?

Well, that is what made us famous in the first place but also what killed us in the end since we didn't evolve like the rest of the football world.

Alba was crying in the locker room.
Samper refused to play for a B team in play off matches because the pressure was too high and he couldn't stand a thought of his beloved team losing.
Bartra was afraid to play vs Bayern when someone got injured.
Andre Gomes couldn't cope under pressure.
Ferran Torres is following his footsteps.

But you can see a clear pattern.
Fc Barcelona lately: only technical skills
The shortest top team around
The weakest gym training regimes around
Zero leaders since Puyol and Masch
The highest amount of scared players and mental breakdowns

It is quite clear what are our scouts mostly looking for when scouting players: technique and whether they could fit into the exact system which worked in 2009'

BBZ waffling again.

Barca have far from the smallest/weakest team.

Have been signing plenty physical players and some of the most out their depth has been likes of Kessie who was hailed as physical player team needed.
