Etc.

About Arda, I DON'T think he had enough of time.
About midfielders, my choice was Kovacic, but Gundogan and Arda were my 2nd choices. I wanted any good player but Pogba.
So, I like Arda and I don't think that he is bad or that he had enough of time.
I mentioned Arda in sense "if Kovacic is a failure or something", well then we have similar cases here.

And I don't think that either Kovacic or Arda are failures.
None of them had time yet to show everything they can and to fit into a team.

About me mentioning Halilovic, Grimaldo and similar, that is not related with your post or with Kovacic's topic, it is more my general reply about some posts on our forum in general.
Aka, we are Barca, we love our team and majority of our talents are a pure cold and everything from Madrid is a pure crap.

Yeah, I see. I actually think we've been talking past each other a bit here, and we probably don't even disagree with the point on question.

I just still don't think anyone has written off Kovacic as a flop, as you claim. If anything, some of us are just poking a bit of fun at those who rated him as the second coming of Christ.

I know you are just poking.
I am doing the same with some other players.

But since I know that DonAk is poking at me since me and Cooter have been the biggest fans of Kovacic, then I "had" to reply.

Anyway,

I'm surprised he's not starting tonight, btw, considering how the injury bug is biting them up the arse.

I wanted him over any other midfielder that's for sure. Lucho seems to only want experienced La Liga players though. And of course we always want Arsenal players.

Funny though, now that MSN began playing like shit and we are now knocked out...people want some creativity and that option from our midfield. Rakitic and Arda aren't the most creative players and both are slow. Iniesta is a bit faster but he's older now and can't do it like he used to.

Kovacic could of been that player for us, and injection of speed and youth into the midfield like I wanted- someone who can dribble at defenders or into space from midfield. NONE of our midfielders possess that quality or pace to do it.

On top of it, he clearly was okay with not starting every game when he signed for Madrid. He would of also been young, with resale value unlike Arda.

He also plays well when he actually plays, odd how he hasn't played much despite Madrid poor midfield much of the season.

That's because Luis Enrique is dead set in trying to make something out of Rafinha...

So is he gonna rot on the Madrid bench for another season?

Thought he was the best thing since sliced bread.

Should've stayed in Inter smh

He wasn't really a factor at Inter either and Manchini wasn't a fan. A move to a team where he'd start would have been better. Zidane doesn't seem fond of him at all the way Benitez was.

Hopefully he leaves( no loan or buyback) and goes to a midtable team where he'll be a priority.

The thing with Kovacic is that he has talent but he is kinda tactically incompatible. Add to that his inconsistency, which explains why he's struggled both at Inter and Real Madrid.

But Inter fans loved him. I was a bit disappointed when he left, but I wasn't angry about it. When he is on his good day, which doesn't happen regularly, he is a joy to watch. Unfortunately that is not enough in football today. He needs to improves quite a lot. After all these years his best position is still a big question mark for many people.

He didnt rot for the first half of the season, Zidane had some major work to do and no time for experiments. The situation will be different this year, we will get playtime.

Kovacic is a box to box midfielder, and this is a hard position to be consistent in. The red card he received against Valencia knocked the confidence right out of him. He needs playing time but he won't displace Kroos at all and Modric mastered his role at 28, lol.

Mentally he has to accept he is no longer a kid and that the greatest midfielders of all time such as Iniesta began shining at 23 and 24. But he has to take the risks and accept that he will make mistakes, that is how he will develop and learn.

Which is not the place to do so at Real Madrid.

Just because a player is talented does not mean they can succeed anywhere. I think it is clear by now what it takes to succeed at Real from a personality attribute. Look at Di Maria, Casemiro, Varane, Marcelo, Higuain, Carvajal for instance. They withstood the pressure and are main fixtures at Real Madrid, all participating in a CL final and winning it.

Jese before the injury was doing exceptionally well, but post injury he did not recover mentally nor physically. Morata does not look like he fits in Real Madrid soley because of his mental approach. He could easily be our Del Pierro but not likely.

But as Morten said below your post, if you a Perez favorite he would do everything it takes, including selling your competition in the team and flying in superstars for you to motivate you, in the case of Benzema. It paid dividends.
