Another master stroke by Allemany.

2.5 years of trying to off load Coutinho, finally materialized thanks to this man.
And to Gerard of course - whose call was crucial.

It seems that Laporta picked the right man next to him. I doubt Laporta could have managed to pull off those deals by himself

PS: his name trends on twitter right now

He was on loan for a better deal to Bayern before this but Barca in tough spot as value fallen more at moment.

Although the amortisation has decreased and Coutinho now more open to 'smaller' clubs for game time with WC on horizon. Which makes these deals more possible.

Need to pray he performs for Villa and get deal in summer.

That was a different countinho loaned to Bayern. There were still doubts if coutniho was still as great as he was in liverpool and if its barca playing style thats fucking him up.

This is a master stroke. So was griezmans departure.

Yes as I said....'value fallen more at moment' from when went to Bayern.

Different Coutinho now than in previous windows also.

Playing for WC place, smaller amortisation and willing to go to 'smaller clubs'.

Which is why it is happening not some stroke of genius. The club are doing what they can in circumstances so fair play.

Alemany is doing good job so far, he's dealing quick, not waiting until midnight of January 31 deals to happen. But the question in my head is why these transfers didn't happen in the summer?

Could be Koeman's different opinion, betting on turning the club into another Dutch colony like Van Gaal did and planning on utilising Messi once again... None of that happened.

The fact Umtiti is still at the club is worrying. It means to me there are no serious offers for Samuel right now, hope I'm wrong.

The pace of which everything is happening is the best it can. I doubt this Coutinho move could happen in summer. And I think it's impossible to accelerate Umtiti's departure because it depends on him. I think club has done everything in their power to get rid of Umtiti's wages.

Coutinho possibly not open to loan to Villa in summer or to move with WC more on the horizon, maybe club once again thinking he can improve for season ahead.

Wont have been about backing Koeman. They didnt want Koeman as coach even if they agreed to sign shite like LDJ.

Umtiti the board can do almost nothing about. Until now by all accounts he wont leave. I doubt his tears to Laporta made much difference.

Market also determines what happens, in summer the club had less leverage or even understanding of how poor the situation was at the club. Negotiating when everyone knows you are desperate is different than when you can go about things calmly

The other factor here is that historically the January window has not been a busy one whereas for us it will be critical - yet, moves are being made that would've been improbable to imagine in summer. I don't know Alemany well enough but there is cause to celebrate already considering the dire state Bartomeu left the club in

Half season loan, and he might return after all if they don't exercise the option to buy him.

So we save 6 months of Coutinho's salary. Good but hardly can be called a masterstroke.

That's the good thing about Laporta though. He has loads of contacts, knows many influential people and has an eye for the right people. And very often he can attract them to join forces with him. The key is keeping those people at the club like seen with Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano. Everything was great at Barca as long they were here, but things got worse when they left. Look what they've done with City since.

Getting Reverter was another masterstroke by Laporta, but we'll only see the positive results in a few years, not right away.

Next step is to attract new lucrative sponsorship deals. Might be a better timing to sign them in the summer though as Barca isn't very successful currently. Qualifying for the CL next year is key in convincing "investors" that Barca is on the way back to past glory.
