I think it's similar to De Jong. Liverpool might be PSG in this case with Bayern on the sideline.

Don't think he only want's to join us (that's what catalan press always says) but i can see him prefer Barca especially with Frenkie also joining us. Now let's see if we put out a good offer for him but if we do our chances should be quite good.

Sport says De Ligt is now open to learning from Pique while fighting for a starter position, something that he previously dismissed as he wanted to be a starter right away. In terms of competition, it is said to be Bayern and Juventus but in my opinion Bayern is not a serious contender because (1) they are said to get Lucas Hernandez in addition to Pavard and (2) they don’t usually engage in a bidding war and pay a high fee and (3) they might not want to get rid of Boateng and Hummels just yet after Loew dismissed those two from the German NT, to show that Bayern supports their players.

Sport also says we like him but we are not going overboard to get him because we already have quite a few CBs. De Ligt might prefer us but he can easily be swayed by a bigger offer or a guaranteed starting position from another team. If we seriously want him we need to make a serious offer and make it early (opposite to what we did with De Jong, waiting until almost the last minute) to close it.

According to Spanish news papers, De Ligt only wants to Barca.

According to people close to de Ligt, Ajax directors and their sponsors, it's for granted that de Ligt will sign for Barcelona as he want to join us.

Barca will pay 70m for him.

Looked like a certain thing from day 1. Much like De Jong. Was never in doubt even less so when every local media has been reporting the same thing for months now. Not much any other club can do when we show our interest be it in terms of allure or the financial aspect and even less so when we are talking about Ajax and Dutch players. Even more so when having already secured 1 such player that happens to be very close to de Ligt.

If this transfer somehow fails it will only be cause the club decides to spend the money on other positions and players and not because de Ligt somehow preferred the likes of Bayern or Liverpool in some imaginary world.

I definitely think we should sell Coutinho now unless he does a big turnaround. Will help us finance this transfer + a striker. If we get a good enough offer for Rakitic I'd sell him too. I think de Jong will be ready to start from Day 1.

I'd consider selling Malcom too and signing a talented right-footed winger, a natural LW. We miss a player like that. I know Reus is getting old and is injury prone, but if he ever was willing to move from Dortmund to win some trophies and was available for cheap that would be an enticing opportunity.

70m is a good price for someone of De Ligt's quality, potential and age

A bargain if he proves to be worth the hype and potential. That's 10+ years of service potentially right there. A no brainer.

That is if he fulfills his potential and becomes even half as good as many people believe he will. If you ask most Ajax fans they will tell you that de Ligt is a safer bet than De Jong in terms of becoming a genuine world class player in the future. That alone should tell us a lot given how highly rated De Jong is.

It's kinda crazy now that we might end up getting both the Ajax Twins.

Considering a couple of months ago it looked like we wouldn't have gotten any of them.

Yep, good part is that hype is huge with these players, so Ernie will have to play them or people would go batshit crazy. Valverde always responds to pressure by giving people what they want. And if the pressure is for De Jong and De Ligt (if we sign them) to play, they will play.
