What? He is already one of the best (if not THE best) CBs in the world. Also, scores from headers all the time, something that our team is totally useless at. Also, it was a miracle that Ajax went that far, Spurs were the strongest team.

Koulibaly is a good option but he's turning 28 next month while De Ligt will be 20 in August. Also, the potential price of Koulibaly is 100-120mil. euro (I saw such information from different sources)

Barca could bid 300M for Van Dijk then. Otherwise no defender is clearly better than De Ligt imo, no other talent and not even "proven" players.

There is experience. Pique is still here. Lenglet is no rookie. Maybe Umtiti stays as well who knows. Only reason to even sign De Ligt is that he is a really really special player not because we desperately need a CB.

If not De Ligt then sign no CB for now and fix other problems with that money. Don't see any other longterm Pique replacement as fitting as him and it wouldn't make sense to just sign a CB to replace the minutes Vermaelen gets.

Putting a gun on Valverde's head forcing him to resign and getting De Ligt is the best option.

Clausule in his contract that both parties can terminate it for free, so it would cost us nothing.
