People keep saying 'oh, Koeman is going to leave so he will get his chance with the next coach'... but if anything, Koeman has shown time and time again he will play youngsters if they are good enough and will help the team win. The next coach, whenever and whoever that is, will not play more youngsters than Koeman currently does. He will play the ones that are already being bedded in, for sure, but that is it.

These guys are fighting for their fucking jobs, if Puig was some magical player that would make the team win more games, you think these guys would be like 'meh.. I'd rather lose than play this guy'

Man spitting truth. Koeman already proved hes not playing him because of a pet peeve. He wants to play him but if not good enough that is it.

In all likelihood Puig probably isn't as good as some of his supporters make him out to be and he probably didn't impress Koeman in training.

That being said, there were several games last season where Barca had a comfortable lead late in the 2nd half that could've seen Puig come on for Pedri( who has played a lot of minutes for his age).

Pretty much this. Anyone who says he should start is just being weird. But it's not much to ask from Koeman when saying Puig should replace Pedri at the 80th minute of a 3-0 match. I mean, there are levels to what a player can do to help and in that regard he has been underused. Koeman has been extremely stubborn in that regard, which kind of diminishes my faith in the whole concept of "he sees him every day in training".
Other than that, Puig has become a classic social media generation idiot, so I might just give koeman here the benefit of the doubt if he just can't stand his face.

Why isn't Puig playing

Koeman is trying his best to be very clear that he wants to get rid of him, Pjanic and Umtiti.
Maybe if he stays anyways, he might get some playing time here and there like last season but I am not sure about it.
If he stays, I say he must have been told that Koeman will very likely leave before the season ends, maybe there is even a deal at place with someone.

Koeman is on borrowed time.

Puig is not staying as he thinks that he is doing what has done for numerous past windows and doesnt have enough about him to go out and take his career into own hands.

Even then new coach could mean nothing so he is staying in possibility of new coach and a possibility that new coach rate him. Just as bad.

Barca will get players back from injury and can easily see Koeman lasting the season if they pick up then. Barca wont waste money sacking him unless looks like could finish outside top four most likely.

I mean if now he stays here another year he will have seen his 21st birthday here and his 23rd birthday sitting on the bench getting no minutes. At 22,23,24 these are key years you develop yourself and get used to starting and in the professional game, he is using it to warm Barca's bench up. Certainly will not become a good player if he just decides he never wants to play and would rather warm up Barcelona's bench for the clout. I'm betting he just has a lot of friends here, likes the sun, likes having clout and doesn't mind too much that he doesn't play as he is enjoying his status as a Barca 'celebrity'.

By the time Xavi comes or whatever other manager he won't be good enough anyway as he has spent nearly 3 key years of his career on the bench by that time.

Why would he go if he is confident he will make it at Barca under a new manager? Makes no sense. Laporta is waiting for Koeman's last year to pass so he can name a manager that fits his sporting plan.

Then if the manager will tell Puig he doesn't count on him he will need to go, agreed.

To develop himself? Play some football, then you can return when the new manager comes and be a better player for it? He's not leaving permanently it's a loan deal being proposed.
