Mavericky Puig

You're welcome
Nice assist, and such a joy to watch him in the highlights too, always eager to get the ball, playing simply but correctly and quickly, with calmness and clarity.
Here you can see a few more actions from that game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqaNPA-1zuQ

Wow...pretty shitty defense. Just in first 30 seconds of the vid I see a MF receive the ball in same area and give the same pass 3 times. Hope it is not telling for MLS level.

Sharing the pitch with yanks and finished players like Chicharito and Douglas Costa. This is like hyping up the game he played against Jamaica's reserves.

Does a game like this say much about how he'd perform against a top European team? Of course not. Did his assist display excellent vision and technique? Of course it did. It was a brilliant piece of skill. This is exactly why fans love him— he's exciting to watch. People seem to forget football is entertainment. Teams and coaches and players must focus on winning, out of the necessities of the business. Which means often fun free-flowing inventive football takes a back seat to dull caution. But some fans (myself among them) would rather be entertained and lose than be bored and win. Great, of course, if your team can both entertain and win at the same time.

Your point is fine and correct, but it DOES say a lot to those that can see. Those who cannot see need games against top opposition, and some hype from journalists and the likes, to be able to judge a player.
Also, this player played even better facing Atletico de Madrid or Juventus, for example.

I don't think top opposition matters to most people. Any team in the MLS isn't even average opposition. It's poor quality opposition. At least regularly performing well against an average la liga side would have been a start for Puig but he didn't do enough.

He is. Should have started fresh going to a Mid table La Liga team.

MLS at this point is not the right move imo.

I don't want to see him play against Barca, just isn't right. Prefer he goes to a top 4 Uber Eats team. Obviously City's the only team he'd fit well in PL.

It is poor opposition in my mind too. I could see Bebes strengths and weaknesses in the first clips that appeared, I could see Gavis or Nicos level too before they played top level, etc.
I see they play tonight vs Toronto FC, hope to see new clips!

He might do one similar pass again...

Next season at MLS.
