Not competing with Fati.
Koeman wants to play Depay-Aguero/Fati-Messi upfront

So most likely he will take Kun's place when he returns

Exactly.
Koeman utilised Memphis as a centre-forward during their time together with the Netherlands national team. Pretty sure he plans the same at Barca if nothing goes wrong with Ansu's recovery. If he has another relapse this can change everything though. He'll have to run more off the ball than he did previously, so 65/70 minutes Memphis per game with Aguero being his sub seems a useful possibility.

During Koeman's time as coach of the Elftal, Memphis has played in 18 out of 20 games. The other two he missed due to an injury.
In 16 of these games Memphis played every minute. 16 of the games he started as CF, two as LW. He scored 11 goals and had 12 assists in 18 games under Koeman.

Now I know that national team football is a bit different, but it looks like Koeman knows how to use Memphis and how to get the best out of him.

His haters will say that Memphis failed at Manchester United and how he will never make it a big club. His coaches were Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho there, so I have a hard time taking that against him. He matured a lot since then too.

I think with Ansu, Messi, Depay we could achieve a very nice fluidity where players exchange positions often. All are comfortable playing wide as well as center based on what I've seen.

all the best clubs in europe didn't want this guy, for the full 4 years he spent at lyon.

his apologists are instead happy to point out that de bruyne was a failure at chelsea and turned worldclass at city. disregarding the fact that de bruyne was snapped up immediately by city. while no important club wanted depay after the man utd failure.

as if van gaal or mourinho are bums when compared to mighty koeman

I think he will be alright, he’s a decent squad option for free at the very least. If his season isn’t that great and Koeman goes I can’t see him sticking around much longer after that anyway.

Doesn’t strike me as a personality that settles for a squad role for too long. Under Koeman I think we can safely assume he starts whenever fit.

That might be great, or disaster. That seems to be the way with players exchanging position in general

Would be a strong front three but lets see if depay is able to perform for a big club.

If messi stays the pressure would be totaly off his shoulders. Everybody expects from messi to deliver, his job is to add double digits of assists and goals in a season, and he should be considered a success

Yeah Barcelona started last season with four of those players, and it looked fun for two or three games before it was gradually more and more obvious to be a disaster.
It's the same thing in midfield, Pedri, de Jong and Ilaix often played to freely, and Koeman ended up playing 5atb to fill in some holes, and relied more and more on Messi solving things on his own offensively.

Yep, either chaos and players stepping on each other's toes, or something nice and hard to block. Worried with Koeman though... he's no Pep or Tuchel as far as fluidity is concerned, more like EV in this area.

We'll see.
