Memphis Depay

He's fine from a financial standpoint as he's free, but I can already foresee the forum meltdown when people realize he's nowhere near as effective as they hoped.

There is two sides to that argument.

One is that he may not be good enough for the standard of squad would want at Barca the other is he would still improve squad as it is just now.

He is a better CF than shite like Braithwaite by far and is an option out wide and run in behind opposition.

Will be fine for free and will improve the squad as it is just now. Worst case scenario he is sold for profit and he is not being signed as any big answer just another better squad option than is there at moment and allows for sale of other players from squad.

Yeah
Honestly I think Depay is the kind of player who looks good when you build around him, like in Lyon but isn't that good when he is part of the puzzle ina bigger team.
Kind like Riquelme back in the day

Crazy some on here thinking this is a good signing , him and Aguero are the type of signings that got the club in this mess.

Lol what got the club in the mess it is in right now is spending 100m+ each on failed transfers like Dembele, Griezmann and Coutinho that didnt fit the slowmotion paced football the team plays and they were a bad fit from the beginning for the roles that were given to them, and Barto giving old past it shit players long contract extensions with enormous salaries intead of getting rid of them and paying like 20m for bums like Braithwaite. Depay for free cant really go wrong at all. In worst case scenario he is sold for a few millions profit.

It's a valid point to suggest a lack of width with too many static players who want the ball to feet and complete the same actions though. That's my main gripe with Depay right now.

Although he is a definite opportunity of the market and makes sense to acquire.

Fully expect to see Dembele leave as his contract isn't being renewed. It means our width is only to be provided by the fullbacks, and Konrad if he promotes.

Not to mention one player was simply never that good and Depay is at least of the r of 16 ucl quality that our squad requires to have on the bench.

Will it be another Ibrahim Afelay type of signing?

Good grief, couldn't have picked a more random comparison - because they're dutch?

Afellay did well but was beset by injuries, plus, he was a midfielder. Depay will play in the attacking front 3

Also, despite having injury problems Afellay still had a good contribution in our CL win in 2011 with that assist for Messi's first goal at Bernaleo.

Close to signing him.

Depay, Aguero and Garcia will most likely be our only signings this summer. If Messi thinks this is the competitive team he needs, he has another thing coming.
