Pjanic possibly getting a redemption under Xavi isn't a surprise for those familiar with the background on this. Barca was Pjanic's dream club to the point that he and his family had a big emotional celebration when the move happened. Pjanic also named Xavi as his idol years back and Xavi had praised Pjanic in the past in interviews.
He obviously felt mistreated by Koeman and was going to give everything to take this second chance once Xavi got the job and his loan was over.

Thing is Pjanic was a top midfielder in his prime and is only 32. With a proper pre-season under his belt he might be more than useful.
Not saying he will pull up any trees but he would be more than capable squad depth and is able to keep the ball well. Could be ideal for the last 15-20 minutes of a game

He won't be a disaster. He might not be that good currently but he's very experienced and clearly has ability so at the worst he could be a decent sub option/backup.
And also the more depth we have the easier it is to prevent Puig/Sanz etc seeing the field.

Problem with Pjanic is that he is the same type as Jorginho. His best position is as a deep playmaker alongside a runner like Kante. He could work with Kessie and Pedri in front of them. But we all know the corpse won't be benched even if he lost a leg, and Pjanic will be shit as his backup, can't play the lone DM position.
He will have the same problems, Frenkie has had, but at least Frenkie was mobile enough to be useful in other positions, Pjanic won't be.
