Moussa Wague

It says we offered Wague on a "free loan" to Leganes and they are considering him. Leganes already have two RBs so don't know why but it seems like there isn't really all that much interest in Wague on the market.

Yes. Let's transfer him, along with Alena, Todibo and Perez without bringing anybody in.

So we've transferred 2 defenders, 1 midfielder, 1 attacker and lost Suarez for the entire season due to injury.

To summarize, in January, we've lost 5 players and bought in zero.

Makes sense, dawg.

So what was the point of signing him in the first place? It doesn't even look like we will make much of a profit.

Too many signings like this. Tricao and Fernandes soon to have the same fate.

Officially loaned to Nice. They have a buy option for 10m and we have a buy-back for 15m in 2021. After that we have a % of future sale.

Why not? He was cheap, had a good WC 2018 and a good last year in Barça B. He's not ready for more in the first team yet so we'll see if he can convince in another team.

Really don't understand complaints about this type of transfers.

So we bought him for the B team? Why did we promote him to the first team then? If he wasn't good enough for the first team, we only bought him to help out the B team and we can sell him for a couple of millions of profit later?

This business model works for other teams, but it shouldn't be our business model. A club of our caliber should not be buying players just to sell them for profit later.

Tbf it's not like they knew he wouldn't make it at the first team. I mean it seemed like the initial plan for him was to be the 2nd RB at the first team this season with Roberto shifting to CM but Wague didn't play and eventually Roberto got back to RB.

In this situation it's probably for the best to give him the chance to prove himself at another team. They could've just loaned him of course but i can see how selling with buy back might be better.

When you buy 18-19 years old kids you don't know if they will be good enough for the first team. Wague was initially signed for Barça B and played a good season there. He was too good for Segunda B so keeping him there didn't make sense and we promoted him. It would be probably better to loan him out at the start of the season but as MTL_Barca mentioned we planned to use Roberto in midfield and have Wague as Semedo's backup.

We bring cheap players for Barça B with intention to help the team but also with a hope some of them could develop into potential first team players in a few years. They are a longshot to succeed but then even 40m or 100m signings are far from having a guaranteed success here. So getting 3-4 players every year, see how they'll develop first in Barça B and then either give them a chance in the first team or send them to another club is a smart strategy imo. If we'll strike a gold one day and get a potential longterm starter or even a superstar for cheap it will all pay off. But until then we'll continue to try out players and selling them (with buy-back which help us to keep control over players's future just in case one of them will suddenly explode in another team) will bring us back some money to invest into new players. Making profit is not our primary goal with these type of transfers but if a player is not good enough to stay here longterm then earning some money with him is not a bad thing either.

What I like is that we've also started to sign players and send them directly on loan/leave them at their current club over the last two years. I've said we should be doing this a long time ago. It doesn't make sense to buy players like Pedri or Emerson for Barça B when they are clearly ready to play at a higher level (but not good enough for our first team yet). We've probably missed out on some talents in previous years by offering them to play for Barça B instead of promising to send them on loans to good clubs who plays in higher divisions or just let them at their current club if they have already established there (like F. Ruiz at Betis).

Todibo -> Araujo
Wague -> No-one
Alena -> Puig
Carlos Perez -> Collado
Suarez -> Griezmann to ST

I'm with you man. But if we look above then it is not as bad as first seems. No one is covering Wague, but then again he is our third choice RB. I have no qualms with him going if he is going to get quality minutes.

Same with Todibo as with the opportunities he has had then why not give those opportunities to Araujo who is match-ready. Sure Todibo has a higher ceiling than Araujo, but Araujo IMO is more prepared to step into a CB duo than Todibo tactically right now.

Everyone was calling for Puig to move to the first team, and now the window is there for him with Alena gone and Setien here. Again Alena with first team minutes in Betis can only be beneficial.

Collado is a more intelligent player than Perez and he is actually decent at AMR (unlike AML where Valverde gave him a few minutes). He may surprise some people if he gets chances. He is the type of profile who with confidence (Setien looks like he is more open to incorporating fringe players than Valverde was) can combine well with Messi. He has the chance to go the way of Pedro or go the way of Cuenca. And if it is the latter, then even that is enough for his role for half a season.

Lastly Griezmann signing should of been as Suarez replacement and now he has the chance to prove it. If he and Messi swap positionally during matches then we may see him explode.

The only gripe I have is that Bakambu was a wise move as an impact striker for 6 months. I used to watch this guy regularly train at the yellow submarine and this guy is a killer in small spaces.

According to Miguel Rico we're negotiating with West Ham for Wague. There are two options.

1. loan with a buy option for 16m
2. 10m sale

Club is understandably prefering to sell him now since they are probably aware WH would never use a buy option. If we can really get 10m I wouldn't think twice.

Moussa Wagu? will join Greek Super League club PAOK on loan. Wagu? will undergo a medical today. Paok will have the option to buy the player at the end of his loan spell. [md]
