Klopp is absolutely right. Back in the day there were up to 2-3 friendlies a year. Now there are 5 to 6 depending whether there are qualifiers the given year.

It's a huge bonus for League D countries that could qualify for Euros (they don't belong there frankly), nothing more than that. Absolutely pointless in a World Cup window.

To be fair most teams will think that about their best players.

If Mbappe/Vini got injured for Real or one of their CBs that could be it for them also.

Yeah, good point. Friendlies of the past were way more disbalanced in ability. What comes to mind is that Iran - Germany friendly where the Iranian crowd gave them Nazi salutes. That's not happening anymore. Never. Germany will play England, Spain, Belgium, Italy and Netherlands in friendlies for eternity. This is boring and also erodes big rivalries by constantly playing them against each other.
