What the...Playing players based on past performances is exactly our problem. Why don't we bring Puyol out of retirement to play against Madrid. He always played well against them.

Poorest comparison of the century. Puyol is retired for a reason. Sergi Roberto is an active player in the squad.

You are advocating for a player to start based on how they played in the past. Just throw merit out the window  Just shows how bad Bob has been that even his fanboys can't defend him these days.

If Roberto consistently performed well against Madrid, then it would make sense to have him play. Maybe he reads the Clasico game well, knows the oppononents better, less pressure for him I dunno.
I want Semedo to become Barca's RB but feel that Roberto will deliver more than he will at this point.

I think Semedo will become a priority in big game.
EV is conservative and Semedo will deliver more in defense than Roberto does.

Maybe Semedo will as good or even better than Bob in clasico. But we'll never know if we keep playing players based on their name and not on merit.

There are rumors that Valverde is thinking of bringing in Semedo in the place of Rafinha while Roberto is pushed up for the Classico.

Roberto upfront in a Clásico sounds like deja vu to me. IIRC it must have been 2 or 3 years ago. Messi has been injured for some time, but was on the bench and came on when Barça was leading by 3 in the Bernaleo. Sergi did a great job in that game.

Then why do want Roberto to start in clasico, even though Semedo has been better?

Because I think he is the better option against this opponent. Doesn't mean Semedo will suck. The purpose is to field the best possible XI against Real right?
