Credit to them for closing this deal quickly though. A good one.

I'm pretty sure Robert has agreed terms with Semedo since Mendes was in BCN for Gomes.
He just asked them to be patient as we have a new coach and must evaluate the situation. Since our sporting department and Valverde sat together this week everything went fast. We ditched Bellerín for the price Robert found out and went all in for Semedo.

Pretty sure Semedo had an offer from United but he waited for us to take the decision because he preferred us.

All in all it looks like Robert did a great job. There was no hurry as our targets played international tournaments and wouldn't have joined preseason before end of June.

It is the same as on the Benfica forum.

Like any transfer it is a gamble but there is not even close to the widespread belief that Barca have been conned by an absolute bust either as Raki makes out.

That guy said there would be a 'bomb' signing. This doesnt qualify as that.

If he had just said that Barca will sign a player in next four days probably be about a 50/50 guess anyway.

Intriguing signing. Semedo shows good basic skills and plenty of offensive projection with tools to be solid defensively. From what I've seen he shows excellent pace, good ability to take on players, and is very adept at one-twos and give and gos, this last part specifically will be a very dangerous skillset on this team with Messi and MSN overall.

If he can translate and replicate his offensive projection for Benfica to Barca, he'll be an impactful player.
